I still think this will be our best team in a while, once we get Ebube back, but never thought this was an NCAA team. Maybe NIT.
Fact is, we have two, and only two, darn good offensive players (who both had off days.) You just need more than that!! I think Rupert has a lot of upside - needs to work on that offense though.
Johnson has not had many good stretches running the show. They need to find answers, quickly.
Banks has looked better at every facet-scoring, distribution, and defensively. We all saw potential in Banks especially when he got a stretch of starting/playing that I still don't really got why they brought in a meh guard from a team that went 14-16 last season.
Hmm...29 more games until the post-season. 30-1 still mathematically possible.
Nobody's saying this team's in the same neighborhood as those Van Winkle disasters...
Hey Goro, not many of us are old enough to remember those disasters. 😀

I wish they had brought in one more offensive-minded transfer. Let’s hope Wonders finds his confidence and comfort level with more reps.
I'm as upset about losing like this at USI as anyone but this was one of those games that nothing worked for the good guys and the other guys were lights out the second half. It's college basketball. It happens.
Yeah Gottfried was the worst ever.
not sure why some of you guys are this upset. USI lost AT Missouri by 6.... anyone who thought this game was a gimme or was going to be easy wasn't paying attention. USI is good, and we are at their place playing in front of a sell-out crowd at their first D1 home game. I thought this game was trouble from the moment i saw it on the schedule. I honestly kind of expected us to lose this one.
Maybe because the Vegas odds-makers had us favored by 9?
363 teams playing college basketball according to sagarin, we just got blown out by number 353.

I’m stunned people are upset with an 18 point loss to a team that was in D2 last year. Thought everyone would be thrilled
I let the opener convince me this team was different than all of Mullins’ past teams. Comparing the box score with today, you wouldn’t even think this was the same team, let alone the same team after less than one week.
At least this can be a home revenge game next year like Little Rock was this year.
In all seriousness, Domask has to be hurt. He doesn’t look like the same Marcus at all to me.
Football being officially eliminated from the playoffs yesterday, and todays loss vs USI is hard. But there are a lot more difficult situations out there we all could endure. Won't elaborate there.
After a huge, emotional win Thursday night, a loss like this can happen, and did. They are after all 18-22 year old kids. BM is also one of the youngest coaches in the country, and the big win might have effected him too somewhat. He made no excuses and put the blame on himself. Let's not forget our last two coaches, who often threw players under the bus. We have the right person/coach for the job. He'll learn from this, and the team will improve.
As Rodney Watson said after the game " even though a loss, this type of game beats a three hour practice in Carbondale, because you have the opportunity to learn from it"
27 games left on the schedule. GO DAWGS!
Congrats to USI for winning their first ever D1 game.
We were out hustled, out rebounded, out toughed, out scored, out played, and out classed today. Very disappointing performance by SIU and a bad, bad, bad loss in the eyes of the NCAA, KenPom, Sagarin, Las Vegas, etc. Doesn't exactly help with recruiting the state of Indiana, either.
