Not to belabor a point but the concerns are legitimate but with all of these posts I an concerned no one mentions the struggles and inconsistencies of Ver Placken who is a starter because of necessity with the all the injuries but I believe he is more suited to be a scorer of the bench

I feel like Verplancken has earned his spot and should keep it. If and when Brown or Harvey come back, they will have to prove capable of outplaying him to be considered for his starting spot.
Just a quick comment on our redshirts. To those folks saying "if they were good enough, they'd be playing" -I strongly disagree. I don't think there's any doubt BOTH are good enough to be playing right now. So, why the redshirts? Two reasons:
1) Sometimes the long-term development of the player is more important than the immediate need for minutes (see Darren Brooks and Randall Falker).
2) Hindsight is 20/20. Had the coaches known they were going to be down two guards to injury for an extended time, maybe Wonders doesn't redshirt. Had they predicted the ineffectiveness of our "three-headed monster", maybe Ebube doesn't redshirt.
I believe it is a combination of those two things and NOT that they "aren't good enough to be playing."
Who is more likely to succeed, an 18 year old or a 22 year old with 5 years of a college weight lifting program?
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

I hate to be holding 2 guys back from making an impact on a team that probably goes around .500 in the Valley and overall. Would make a ton of sense on a team that were Valley favorites. This program has to start winning and it feels like a waste to kick the can down the road some more.

Verplancken is slashing 48/47/100 he's the least of our worries
Banks had a bad game, but i think patience is in order.

He's shooting 16% from the field (5-31). Surely that cannot continue. At this point it's just a confidence thing. Needs to get some easy buckets

I bet if Mullins thought those redshirts would be improvements over the ones playing, they wouldn't be redshirting. I imagine they need a little seasoning.

Obviously the latter, but in the current landscape of college basketball its a coin toss at best a player stays at the same school to be a redshirt senior. In the case of Ebube and Wonders, I'd hate to see them succeeding elsewhere as upperclassmen, especially when ... strictly in my opinion ... their raw capabilities as freshman could add valuable depth in areas of need THIS season.

San Fran is a road trip.
I’m not seeing any TV for SF game. If that’s true, it would be a shame. One of the few non-conference games worth watching.
I think all their home games have been broadcast online so hopefully this one gets picked up. Especially since they might be a ranked team by then.
WCC Network broadcasts some games but not this one evidently. https://wccsports.com/watch/?id=6114165012001
Good news! Our game is showing up on WCC Network now.
@salukiworld excellent news. Always love to the see the Salukis play good competition.
SIU has to start stepping up and playing a consistent 40 minutes of basketball if they want any level of success this season. Playing to the level of your competition or not competing on both ends of floor for periods of time, won't allow this program to take the next step. Expecting more from this coaching staff and the talented group of kids on this roster.
