I'm glad we won, but....if either of those shots on UIC's last possession went down we'd be looking at a melt-down on here. 🤣
I'm glad we won, playing for that 4th place spot, that at least 6 teams are fighting for. Who knows what will happen the rest of the way, but it would be nice to finish 4th at least. Definitely going to need more of a team effort on offense to compete with the top 3

We're not in the same class as Indiana State, Bradley, and Drake. I was watching Indiana State/Drake earlier and it just looks like a different sport right now.
Maybe we will catch Drake in a trap game with the Dawgs in between the trees and the gargoyles
This team is in 4th place. LOL! The difference in 3rd and 4th in this conference feels like we’re on different planets.
The class of the league will be on national display in about an hour.
Both Indiana St and Drake should be dancing in March, but they won’t be.
That was a great game - caught the last half. Avila just keeps getting better (20 pts and 11 rbs) and they just have some really good talent with Swope, Conwell (21 pts), Larry, Bledson, Kent (20 rbs) etc. They had 8300 fans and the place was rocking like Larry Bird days.
I think InSU has a good chance at an at-large if they don't win the MVC Tourn. Losing at Drake, Alabama, or Michigan St is not a bad loss.
They have a great chance to win the rest of their games. Probably their toughest is at SIU or MoSt. Done with Drake and Bradley.
If they don't win it, I sure as H don't want Bradley to win it again.
Cade's injury is unfortunate and I don't think he'd be the same player here in Mullins' system vs Schertz' but missing out on Avila seems like the biggest L of Mullins so far. He's about to be a star in a few weeks if/when they make the NCAA Tournament.
True, Siu is definitely playing for 4th place in mvcI'm glad we won, playing for that 4th place spot, that at least 6 teams are fighting for. I was more surprised with Hensley playing ahead of Rupert because Hensley has really struggled on defense lately but again it worked our today
hensley played a lot in the last UIC game too I think. These decisions are not made in the gam… this is an orchestrated plan game to game on which bigs will be most effective.

We are in the same class as Bradley (they're certainly more consistent, but we can absolutely beat them), but not Drake or Indiana State. While I think we could probably win 3 or 4 out of 10 games against Drake, I think we'd only win once against Indiana State - they are that good and deep, it's pretty remarkable.
Enjoyed attending this one despite the truly awful officiating, way too many turnovers and some of Southern’s usual issues resurfacing. It was a very competitive game between two teams that were desperate for a win and played that way. A nice turnout again from the Chicago Saluki contingent, including former players Ben Coupet and Sylvester Willis.
X had a big-time will to win, drawing all those fouls and making free throws while tired late, which isn’t easy to do. Also a nice bounceback game from AJ.
I was glad Jones and Kennedy fouled out for them late … might have been the difference having those guys out of the game in the closing minutes as they are both capable of making big plays and taking some pressure off Rivera.
Hensley did play hard but I thought some of the postgame praise he received was overblown and still question whether he should be on the floor with the game on the line. Mullins is allergic to Ebube in crunch time. But, it worked out yesterday and it was a MUCH needed win.
Allergies or free throws 38% tough to be on the floor

To add insult, they reportedly CHOSE Cade over Avila. Wow.
two totally different situations last year Southern was a veteran team trying to win a conference title so who knows what the rotations would've have been while INSU was a surprise and I don't think anyone saw it coming and it is easier to bring in new people and give them playing time and this year with Cade's injury we don't know what to expect but with all that being said it looks one sided as of know but will Avila stay at INSU into today's market will Schertz stay and who knows Cade may be the guy when healthy but yes currently it doesn't look good but that is why it is recruiting or in other words it is called fishing not catchingCade's injury is unfortunate and I don't think he'd be the same player here in Mullins' system vs Schertz' but missing out on Avila seems like the biggest L of Mullins so far. For a fair assessment. This could have been a factor at the end of the Murray game last week. Mullins was asked about it in the postgame. If he was worried about Murray fouling SE there.
Figuring that was some of his thoughts at the end of this one. Doesn’t really excuse him not bringing him in more earlier though. Other than UIC has bigs that can shoot 3’s.

At least you can say Mullins was sniffing around in the right places on the recruiting trail.
Things might look a little different regardless of Mullins' stuffy offensive schemes if Avila and Swope were donning Saluki jerseys.
