You can talk about the manner in which this was done all you want......but the facts are that Barry Hinson was never going to be terminated as long as Tommy Bell was AD.   Either Tommy was not adamant enough to get this change done or the Chancellor didn't respect his opinion enough to give his consent.   At least with a new butt in the AD chair, maybe something will happen.   Maybe Jerry is part of a giant conspiracy and Barry will never be on the hotseat.   However, if Jerry Kill wants him out....there is a chance of making it happen and the clown show had a lifetime contract under Tommy Bell.   The athletic department is still not seeing a dime from me until this change does take place, but this change does provide reason for a small amount of optimism.

If Tommy wouldn't have been so adamant he might still have his job and yet you think there is more of a chance of bh being fired now? From what I've heard Kill was one of the main players in bh keeping his job so good luck with that. I'm so fed up I don't know why I'm even here wasting my time.

Group therapy.

I really hope opinions of Kill aren’t going to go south. If Kill is part of Camp Carlo, they will go south fast.

The 4D chess play would be Kill tanking basketball for SIU to be a football school.  🤣

Fortunately we're not playing this in four-D. Kill said a flourishing B-ball program is the MOST important thing to work on

And from the other side of his face he supported keeping the present coach who has never in his coaching career been to the ncaa tournament and has been a failure as SIU coach for 6 years.

I think we all are aware that the basketball program needs to flourish.

If he truly believed that then his support of Barry Hinson makes no sense.

If this was the case, he wouldn't have supported a guy that's coached for 17 years without reaching an NCAA Tournament.

That was all I meant about people going sour on Kill. Most of us really like Jerry and appreciate what he has done for the university.

BUT, that being said, NO ONE is bigger than the university.

I, too, am now concerned that even after next season's NIT bid or possible luck into winning the MVC Tournament, that Hinson will get to finish out of his contract.

The more I think about it, the more these last 6 weeks pisses me off. Mullins wants the job. We could have had him this year, and he could have hit the recruiting trail to at least partially make up for Hinson's class balance and recruiting ineptitude for the 2019-20 season.

If Tommy was that adamant and didn't get the job done, do you really think he's the man for the job?   It was obvious during his time here that he couldn't accomplish much and the status quo was going to continue as long as he was AD.

I don't know what the future holds now or how Jerry Kill will perform in this position....but I at least know we have a fighting chance to possibly see change now under this new regime.

Maybe we'll even see a return of Chris Lowery to the sideline as I know Jerry has some history with him at both SIU and Kansas State.    It may be a long shot.....but Big Dance invites and Floorburn U were never going to return under Tommy Bell.    Now, we can start to dream big once again!

Hey dp, why would we ever want Lowery back on the sideline?  Even as an assistant.  And with the lawsuit still active, how could we?

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

8-23.

I am all for Chris Lowery getting a shot somewhere else. It just can’t happen here.
