UNI 69
SIU 57
Final
SIU shoots 6-24 from 3 (25.0%)
This team is way too quick to stop attacking the basket even though a lot of good things happen when they attack the basket.
You don’t win consistently with just chucking up a bunch of 3’s. The offense has to be balanced.
Out coached again. Failure to have team prepared to play. Tentative offensively except Jones.
I don’t think the outcome is a huge surprise. SIU has historically sucked at UNI. I think recruiting is really the only downfall of this program.
I've seen UNI play several times this year - they were far, far better today...as in a completely different team.
I thought we played poorly for the most part. Jones was great in the 2nd half. JD was good 1st half. Domask had a poor game for him. Lot of effort but just kind of sluggish.
Clarence barely got to play - big coaching mistake IMO.
UNI could win the MVC tourney if they play like this.

Good points. I really believe Mullins needs to recruit some front court players that can score and rebound.

The frontcourt is fine, the backcourt is the problem. You win with guards in college basketball and Jones is the only guard that can consistently score on this roster.
Rough loss. This teams are about evenly matched and will likely finish the season close to each other in the standings. UNI has the easy part of their schedule coming up too, with the road game at Belmont being the toughest challenge in the next 5 games.
Born is a Soph. Does not bode well for SIU next few years.
You can’t keep digging yourself these kinds of holes and spending so much energy trying to make comebacks. It will eventually catch up with you. Today it caught up with SIU.
These guys have got to figure out how to lock in from the jump. These poor starts are way too consistent for such a veteran team.
--Insert something witty here--
Very disappointing loss with a chance to win eight straight. UNI played very well. Thought SIU had the veteran guards to deal with Born but he outplayed them.
Pretty hard to ask Marcus to play great every night or it’s an L.

Yep, and even he is streaky to put it mildly.
Considering how bad we usually play there, some of this comes off as big overreactions. Still need to run better offense though.
@salukiworld outside of Domask, you can’t count on any front court player.
When was the last time we won the first four minutes of a half…I can’t tell you. We have been playing with fire for awhile now getting down double digits and having to claw our way back in to the game. That’s why all these games are so close, b/c when we go on run’s it’s to close the deficit not separate. Mullins needs to figure something out b/c this is a chronic problem at this point. Those two stretches at the beginning of the halves lost this game.
