Get 'm at our place. Hopefully figure why Born can score 27 points on this veteran team.
@salukiworld outside of Domask, you can’t count on any front court player.
Yeah Domask & Jones are their two good players and everyone else on the roster is hit or miss on offense (mostly miss). Johnson stepped up a few games but other than that there's no consistent scorers. This team needs to rely on holding teams under 40% shooting to even have a chance at winning.
How can Clarence R. start against Kentucky and Purdue and others in the NCAA tourney and play so little for SIU?

He had one of his worst games today when he was in there, and Muila is starting to earn more time, and then Mullins tried to shake things up with a smaller lineup at times in the second half. Bummed about the DNP for Ebube but clearly he’s going to have to work his way slowly back into the mix.
Some things that stick out to me:
1. On offense UNI players space the floor, move the ball well and move without the ball much better than SIU. We have a more talented team, but are coached poorly on offense.
2. We gave up way too many offensive rebounds and second chance points.
3. We are better than Uni. However, our poor shooting, and lousy offensive sets (or lack thereof) are holding us back.

He’s been scoring like that on most everyone this year. Good player.
What a difference a great scoring, ball valuing point guard like him would make for SIU.
--Insert something witty here--
why is this team so offensively challenged ?
this is BM 4th year in. we have 1 consistent scoring threat. a 2nd that is hot or cold and that is it. very frustrating and highly questionable.
it is hard to imagine that in the era of the transfer portal we cannot obtain a guard that can score the basketball. Has J Newton had a game of 10 or more all year ?

Well today, I would gather it was the 2 missed box outs that allowed for offensive rebounds. I'm ALL for playing, and starting, this kid but if you rewatch the game, today was not his best game or effort.
one other reminder. WE HAVE BEEN OFFENSIVELY CHALLENGED FOR 4 YEARS.

When light-scoring D’Amico is the guy being subbed in for offense in late-game offense-defense subs, it’s not a great sign.
Foster Wonders got some decent playing time in the second half, hits what would have been his second 3 but stepped out bounds, then gets pulled and never sees another minute. Then, the lead balloons back up to 8-10 points late and you don't put in your best 3-point shooter?

Respectfully speaking, he had a VERY rough day on the defensive end. I watched at least twice where he didn't just get beat, but got blown by. That being said, when you're down double digits, you might as well bring him in to try to spark the team since no one else (outside of Banks) was hitting anything from outside.
LOL
have no idea what or who Dean is. My mistake that i posted same in two threads. Been watching and attending SIU basketball since the early 70s. Big fan. Just frustrated that we are so challenged to score the basketball. I was thrilled when BM was named our coach. Knew that BH was taking the program nowhere.
I have been silent for the first 3 years of BM. Am hoping Bryan can take us to the next level. I would think the questions I have raised are legitimate questions. If this team had another scoring presence we would be much better. Although I am not an insider by any means I would have thought that in the previous 4 recruiting cycles a scorer would have materialized. I am thrilled we are 12 and 5. Just want more. Sorry if I am too negative.
I'm going to go and enjoy what's left of the afternoon. I stand by what I said earlier. The key game for us will be the game AT Missouri State. If they can win that game, they can quite possibly be 9-3 going to Peoria to play the Braves. Still a real chance to make some noise in the Valley and finish top 3 !!!!!!
