How can Clarence R. start against Kentucky and Purdue and others in the NCAA tourney and play so little for SIU?

He had one of his worst games today when he was in there, and Muila is starting to earn more time, and then Mullins tried to shake things up with a smaller lineup at times in the second half. Bummed about the DNP for Ebube but clearly he’s going to have to work his way slowly back into the mix.

How would anyone know? CR played only 12 minutes. Mullins jerks him out after just a couple of minutes. He had 3 pts and two rbs. Wasn't in the game long enough to do anything.

D'Amico played 13 minutes - 3 pts and 1 rb.

JD played 17 minutes - 7 pts., 4 rbs, 2 stls.

This game is no reason to jump off a bridge. Disappointing, yes, but to be expected given we are usually bad in Cedar Falls even when we have great teams.

Just have to dust off, do a better job to get out of the gate at Indiana State, and take care of business in a winnable game.

SIU dropped 14 spots in KenPom to 118, just 7 spots ahead of where they finished last year.  Also 300th in the country in 3 point shooting now.

253rd in adjusted offensive efficiency which is now the worst under Mullins

While I'm certainly saddened by this loss, I am not overly surprised by it. Jacobson has 17 plus years of head coaching experience, winning multiple NCAA Tourney games. BM has 3 years in, and it is most obvious that he has much to learn. I also believe that we exerted much energy to win vs Drake, especially MD. Knowing this, Jake ran two players at MD all day, making him work for everything. Smart. Born is a fine player, and being lefthanded is to his advantage, as most players/teams are used to righties.

Looking at the schedule, I felt that the winning streak would come to an end either at UNI or INDst. Now that it's over, let's start a new one on Wednesday night. We did not have JD, or Scottie available vs them last time, will that be the difference? We shall see. Enjoy the rest of your weekend all!

GO DAWGS!!!

Ebube got no minutes today, doubt he makes a difference against the Trees or even the rest of season.

If Trent Brown starts the next game, BMull needs to take a drug test. End of story!

This team is way too quick to stop attacking the basket even though a lot of good things happen when they attack the basket.

You don’t win consistently with just chucking up a bunch of 3’s. The offense has to be balanced.

Good points. I really believe Mullins needs to recruit some front court players that can score and rebound.

The frontcourt is fine, the backcourt is the problem.  You win with guards in college basketball and Jones is the only guard that can consistently score on this roster.

Unless Domask and Jones come back (5th year), our backcourt scoring will be worse next year. Our only recruit, 6'6 Davis will help but we need more.

When will we see this "good shooting team" make 3s? On the other hand, looks like JD has been working on those FTs.

I am beginning to think bringing both back will only delay the development of other players. Yeah, we may get closer to dancing but  bringing them both back isn't a guarantee into the NCAA Tournament.  To be sure, both of them have been fun to watch these past 4 years, but at the end of the season, let's bid them both a fond farewell and  let somebody else carry the torch in the 2023-24 season.

We only have one offer out for 2023, 6'5 SG Tristan Gross, so if Domask and Jones don't come back, I see the portal as our only option.

Please no.  SIU would be an easy bottom 3 or 4 Valley team next year without Domask & Jones.  Mullins needs to figure out how to build a team around them and develop talent on the fly by actually giving the young players minutes.

Very respectfully disagree; that's a good problem to have, and at this point getting them back is by far our best chance at an NCAA tourney bid - they won't stifle the development of Rupert, Ebube, or Cade.

Without looking, name the two other Valley teams with a winning road record.

Silver linings all around, we're still towards the top of the valley standings, had a nice winning streak, it's just one game.

Just looked at UNI's starting lineup:

Betz - JR

Duax - FR

Campbell - FR

Anderson - SO

Born - SO

Meanwhile, SIU started 4 SR's and a SO.

I've read multiple comments saying fans shouldn't be surprised bc we always lose "here".  If we go by that, then we're in trouble bc under Mullins we are 2 - 14 on the road against Bradley, Missouri St, UNI, Drake and Indiana St.  I was hoping this year (year 4) was the time to not accept losing anywhere / anytime (against a non-power school).  I can honestly say that I DID expect to win and that I am not happy we lost.
