This was true at one time, but I'd have to disagree now with the portal like it is. Mid majors that make the dance and win a game or two seem to be completely blown up in the offseason now. Several the last few years, including where Rupert came from, have completely been dismantled after their good seasons.

I'm sure there have been teams, but I can name as many or more really good Mid Majors that have stayed together, including FAU, St Mary's, Dayton, almost ALL of the Mountain West and the list goes on. I am not saying you are wrong, I am just respectfully disagreeing. I honestly think that, say next year, SIU wins 23-25 games and makes the NCAA tourney..... that most, if not all of the critical players would come back.

Their coach also got a new job. Can’t forget that massive detail in the Saint Peters team.
@insaluki Financially we are a step below all of the programs you listed. I'm guessing our NIL coffers reflect that.
I still think you should recruit the best players that you can regardless of the portal though. Jones and Domask have given SIU some nice national publicity.
