While I am grateful for this site frankly so many posters have left this site is really dead. Any Chance MSN will return? I know he made a pact on the old site that he won't post on salukitalk if Hinson returned any chance he would make an appearance on here? Would just like the site to pick up a little.
SIU being bad at football this year hurts the traffic right now.
It will pick up once bball starts.
Per MSN the last time I talked to him.
He will not be back until BBQ is gone period . Hopefully he breaks but I doubt it.
- Basketball hasn't really started yet.
- Football sucks.
- This is usually a dead period, regardless of the board we are on.
- I think people need time to heal the wounds caused last spring.
- There's a general sense of sadness around SIU right now (RIP Chancellor Montemagno).
I still have the resume on iCloud, so if MSN isn't back, I'll post it in his place, even though I've promised myself I'll generally be nicer to Hinson. Facts are still facts. I won't go on any long diatribes calling him Hucky or Chester Cheetos, but the record is the record at this point.
I think when basketball season starts we'll see more folks start hitting the site. Probably as many a 8 or even 9 more on a regular basis.
The way things are right now with the key sports at SIU its just too hard to get excited.
Go Dawgs!
What happened to Underdawg? He was the most consistent poster until several weeks ago.

Good question. I hope he’s OK.
I'll be here more once basketball starts. The football team is a disaster.
I have not seen an article from him in the Carbondale Times (or whatever it was he wrote sports stuff for) since July.
(Inflammatory political snark)

If you watch any of the press conferences archived on the athletics website, you'll still hear him on there asking questions, so he still has his credential. I hope he comes back. He's good for new posts that get people talking at least.
SIU and it's athletic department would like nothing more than a social media site that continues to look at the school and athletics with a critical eye to disband. SIU rules the media in Southern Illinois and restricts what they can and can't say.....through the "I'll take my ball and go home if you say anything bad or controversial about me", mantra. Now more than ever the leadership and athletics needs to be monitored and monitored closely. SIU is at a state where they can't afford to put up with incompetence. Tough decisions and a new direction is on order for SIU. As an alumni, I'm sick and tired of watching the people in charge and formerly in charge of the university turn it into a laughing stock. Time to step up or step off.

That means 4 more years with the contract extension.
Craving a McBride Special!
SIU has problems much worse than Barry Hinson.
This statement should scare the hell out of everyone, by the way.

Has this been verified? Hinson signed an extension?
(1) US COVID-19 statistics (February 29, 2020-June 16, 2020): 2,124,000 reported cases and 115,052 deaths
(2) Donald Trump (June 15, 2020) told a group of senior citizens that there would be very few cases of COVID-19 if the US stopped its testing and contact tracing: "If we stop testing right now, we'd have very few cases, actually."
(3) Donald Trump [(Jan 20, 2020), when asked if he's worried about a pandemic]: “No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s — going to be just fine.”
If he has gotten another extension it must be because of pressure from a donor again because not making it public negates the recruiting excuse.
