OK, folks.
With all the changes in the roster, I am confused. Who is eligible to play in the upcoming season? Who has to sit out the year? And who do we not know for sure what their status is?

Re: the five D-I transfers, to the best of my knowledge:
- The two grad transfers (Benson and Suggs) are eligible.
- The EIU transfer (Harvey) will have to sit for sure.
- The other two transfers (the big from Clemson and wing from Nebraska) might be immediately eligible but have to go through the waiver process, so up in the air for now. Both are coming off medical redshirts.

Thanks. So, if the 2 transfers are eligible, then some younger players who haven't redshirted00 may be able to redshirt? Considering that there may not enough able bodies on the floor if they don't play.
I think the Nebraska kid has the best shot at getting the waiver. Don’t think the Clemson kid will get it.
The roster on the website is missing Suggs and the new kid from Nebraska, right?
Why isn't Davis immediately eligible because Nebraska fired their coach and hired Hoiberg?

This rule is only for incoming Freshmen that saw their coach leave, so Marcus Domask is automatically eligible this year. Davis will need to receive a waiver from the NCAA to play this season. He medically redshirted last year so he’ll have 4 years of eligibility. Worst case scenario is you get a much older player than normal which isn’t exactly a bad thing.
I also am confused. Why do you think the Nebraska kid will get a waiver but no William from Clemson.
ahhh- no coaching change?

Correct me if I’m wrong. If William(Clemson) does not get a waiver, he will not complete his 4 years of eligibility in the 5 year time frame. That also means he would be sitting out 2 years in a row.
William doesn’t have much of a case. Being closer to home/coaching change are the two simplest ones. Unless he claims abuse at Clemson he probably won’t get it.
he looked abused to me, lol

He could claim toxic environment like Mark Smith did. It also helps if Clemson is okay with it.

Davis' need to clear the waiver process is likely just a formality. Coaching change at Nebraska, and I'd heard whispers that Hoiberg didn't offer to extend his scholarship. Maybe someone can confirm?
Worst case scenario; he doesn't clear and has two years to recover from a pretty devastating basketball injury. He'll have serious rust to knock off, but not all bad in the long run, IMO.

I was thinking the same thing, cowboy. But surely we wouldn't go after a kid who would wind up being ineligible, right? Surely the NCAA would have informed him and Mullins of that.
Oh. I just said "surely" and "NCAA" in the same sentence. 😆
Anyway, I'm guessing there is an exception for medical redshirt cases.
