How bout the bullpen today! We don't want to have to use them like that too much but with our Darvish-Hendricks-Quintana coming up, there should be plenty of innings. If anyone is still only halfway in on Darvish, just wait til he takes the mound for us. He was my favorite pitcher to watch in the league and now he's a Cub. He's our ace, no doubt.
This is one of my favorite videos on Youtube:
Rough loss tonight. Some of the same problems with the offense from last year reared their ugly heads tonight. I think the pitching is going to be good enough for them to get by but I really worry about the offense putting it together against good pitching when it matters.
I'm seeing the same team as last year. Offense can't do anything in big situations. Starters were brutal in this series. Splitting with one of the worst teams in baseball is not a good way to start the season.
It's only the first series of the year. The Marlins were overhyped to prove to the public they aren't crap. Plus the Cubs have been average coming out of the gate during the Maddon Era.

4 games in, nothing to worry about.

I'm not worried about the 5 games but this is an extension of last season to a much worse extent. I'd bet they still make the playoffs but I'm beginning to think this offense isn't very good.

They've gone through stretches like this in the past where the bats get a little cold and the Ks pile up. Not too worried. Starting and relief pitching's been great and that was a bigger concern going into the season. The bats will heat up eventually. Play .500 on the road and tear it up at home.

Bullpen has been great, not sure about the starters. Hendricks was good, Chatwood probably got lucky (6 walks?!??) and Quintana, Lester, and Darvish were terrible. I’m not really concerned with the rotation though, the offense scares me though.

Quintana really only had one bad inning (after carrying a no hitter through the first 4), Lester too. Chatwood's 6 walks weren't the best BUT he did work his way out of it repeatedly so... Darvish looked inconsistent I agree but if the bats had done anything at all they would have won yesterday and 17 inning marathon in FL. SPs have kept them in every game and the bullpen slammed the door.
Let's try for a homerun every swing! Getting base hits sucks.

I mean, that's pretty much what they do anyways.
Rainout tonight so the Cubs can set up Lester/Hendricks/Darvish/Quintana for the Brewers

Rare 2 days off in a row with the scheduled off day today so the bullpen is well rested too.
Nice series win this weekend. Offense still looks like a problem, Schwarber looks like first half Schwarber from last year but the rotation and bullpen looks really good.
The two days off really helped this team get back to normal. I'm worried about the Outfield. Heyward looked a bit lost on a few balls that he would normally get too. Also Schwarber and Happ needs to figure it out.
