Mr Woogers, you are correct on Killer and Patterson's friendship - but he apparently did not help Coach P enough to save his job!!
Also Killer was at Virginia Tech last year in a similar role with his friend Justin Fuente, and it's pretty apparent that Fuente will be fired at the end of this year!!
Coincidence - maybe. I haven't been close enough to SIU to know all that went down with Killer there, but sounds like he may have burned more than a few bridges!
Of course it's a coincidence. Coaches, especially at that level, get fired all the time, sometimes in the middle of the season. Absolutely do NOT believe Kill was backstabbing his friends! Why would he? He knows he can't be a head coach again - health won't allow it. If that was not the case, he'd still be at Minnesota.
TCU is having a terrible season and had sub-500 seasons in 2016, 2019, and this year. 6-4 in 2020, 7-6 in 2018. That won't hack it at TCU, where football is everything. Blaming it on an assistant is just silly.
@mr_woogers, I was not blaming Kill or anyone else! Just saying that Kill did not have enough positive influence to help the HC keep his job. The coincidence snide remark was it looks like the last two Head Coaches that he was hired to "help" either have been fired or will be fired.

So does Jerry want to be retired or not?? I am assuming his health has stabilized? Did filling in this season teach him he still has a passion for being a head coach? I would assume, even though his resume is now a mile long, he could attract a better position than New Mexico if he wanted it.

Did anyone catch in Mario's pre-announcement news conference slip up and say that Kill returned to SIU as the Athletic Director versus returned as an Assistant to the Chancellor and then became Interim Athletic Director. (Not a surprise since many of us questioned his return as an "assistant to the Chancellor"at the time.)
