After being humbled by Venezuela and other embarrassments should we just cancel USA Men's Soccer?  Maybe this sport isn't for us?  Maybe we need to have the Women's coach pick and coach the teams?  If they are going to represent America, then they have to step up their game.

For years, USA Basketball sucked and then a college coach came in and chose the best (not the most popular) players for the team, imposed discipline, and destroyed the competition.

The men’s team issues are so deep I don’t know if they’ll ever recover.

They fired Klinsmann in a panic, hired a retread in Arena who relied to much on aging MLS players and it cost them the World Cup.

Public pressure forced Gulati to resign which seemed to be a step in the right direction only to allow politics of MLS to dictate the new President. New president has major MLS ties so he gets elected because they have too much power in the USSF.

Arena resigns and they claim theyre they’re doing a world wide search for a new manager only to hire an executives brother (Berhalter) who was a mediocre MLS coach for the Columbus Crew and continues to make questionable roster decisions. If berhalter doesn’t make the Gold Cup final he should immediately be let go and a real search should be held.

We have a LOT of talented young kids and the fact that they aren’t playing in this Gold Cup shows you the close mindedness and corruption that’s killing the men’s team.

The talent coming up is real. They have a legit shot to be a major world player and they need to play now.

Theere’s a growing concern that to play for the USMNT that you will have to play in the MLS which would be an absolute disaster.

Stopped caring about USA Soccer when the fanbase hounded Klinsmann, the best coach they've had in decades.  Glad they're getting what they wanted.

The truth is USA Soccer is never going to be relevant when the best athletes in the country are playing football and basketball.

Not all football and basketball players would be optimal soccer players.  There are likely more kids in organized soccer in US than any other county.  If a tiny portion of these kids grew up and watched soccer it would be insanely popular, attract more players and money, problem solved.  As with most issues in life the prime tool for correcting the issue is a large mirror.  There are tiny piss any countries in the EU fielding great basketball teams which atypical (by US standards) on the court, so lack of overall talent shouldn't be an issue.  Need better coaching, need better loyalty from ex soccer players, and just stop sucking.  They should seriously consider having the women's coach provide oversight of the men's program.
