This isn’t a restaurant post, but it looks to me like the Home2 is nearly complete. Can it be open by the time fall semester starts?

What can people tell me about Blue Boar, which is in the Anna/Cobden area?   Never been there before.

I've eaten at the Blue Boar a few times (I live just a couple miles from there.). It's okay.  They claim to have authentic cajun cuisine.  The acoustics are bad, so it's kinda noisy.  There's are bar in the dining area.  Sometimes I go over just to watch a game.  It's pretty popular, but there's not much competition in Anna.  The Brick House has the best food in Anna, but it's pretty pricey.

King Neptune's Cajun House is open now as a bar, and will have real cajun food when the dining area is ready, apparently this summer.

I've only been to 17th Street in Murphysboro a couple times over the years.  Besides just a regular BBQ, what would those of you who have eaten there a lot recommend on their menu?

Love their pulled pork sandwiches.  And the ribs as mentioned before are tremendous.

There's a new restaurant in town called Keepers Quarters inside Key West bar on the west side of Carbondale. I ate there last night after hearing rave reviews from my son and his friends. Been open about 2 weeks now. I have to agree, the guy knows how to cook. I had the Reuben. He makes his own corn beef piles thick with all the trimmings on marble rye. Delicious. I also tasted the riblets. They are soaked in special brine and then deep fried. Really tender and meaty. My wife had the chicken sandwich which she loved and the home made fries were great. They also have gourmet mac and cheese and a Cuban sandwich among many other dishes, They also have several vegetarian choices. It takes a little while to be served but that's expected when you make nearly everything from scratch. Highly recommend this new place.

Faux brick siding going up on Culver's. I'm still hedging that Culver's is going to be open before the hotel.

Didn't Key West used to serve food and deliver a few years back?  It was decent.  I think the people that own Primo's in Carbondale also own Key West.  But I could be wrong.

Glad to hear the food is good.   Will have to try it out soon.

They have been busy poking pipes under 13 to Culver's. Now to pour the lot and outfit the store and they are ready to open. Target was August, I believe they will make it.

Still need a Chic-Fil-A in the Carbondale-Marion area!

Pretty surprised there isn't one.  There's the one in the Student Center but I think a standalone store in Carbondale or Marion would do incredibly well.

Downtown Abbey in Cobden has really good pizza. They did a fantastic job of remodeling the old Palace Pizzeria.

Customer service at eateries, is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. It seems as if waiters and waitress's expect tips. They no longer feel they have to earn them. I am an above average tipper, but you give me bad service, you ain't getting much out of me anymore.
