Anyone know what enrollment numbers are projected at? I assume they’ll take a hit due to the pandemic, and the fact that they seem to take a hit every year.
It seems every year the report is going up but the reality is going down.

I would think (and have read) that a lot of kids are postponing college a year due to Covid.
Don't know about the total but I read somewhere today - can't find it - that there are 300 more freshmen than last year.

I heard a blurb on local news that freshman enrollment was up 30%. Seems pretty large, no confirmation.
Well that would be great news and a good start to increasing enrollment. We’ll have to see where the retention numbers are at.
I do know that visits and freshman applications were up greatly during the last school year and an increase to the freshman class was definitely expected before the virus. I guess it's tough to tell until we see the official numbers.

Possible good news on enrollment...despite everything that's going on.
Awesome! Must be an increase. It will be most important to see an increase next year after the virus has been handled. Students might trend toward an online education.
This would be a nice surprise in the current environment.
Any updates this week?
Think the numbers come out on Tuesday and they’re looking good
Looks like it was nothing more than a tease from the university...I should have known to expect it by now. It’s great they are attracting more first-time students, but I’ll hold off any enthusiasm whatsoever until we see the total actually increase....

I'd say a 2.8% decline with the 30% increase in new students is a leap in the right direction. Now this needs to be a year over year thing and we can start to significantly increase the enrollment.
11,695 to 11,356. It's not bad news that Fr. enrollment has increased, but the overall decrease is more of the same old, same old. A large part of that Fr. increase is the new nursing program - that was expected.
We've had other years in the last 6 or 7 where Fr. enrollment went up, but total has continued to drop, so this news does not excite me. much.
If the SIU Admin thinks they have fixed the enrollment crisis, they are kidding themselves! They need to keep working their a s s e s off. Lowering tuition would be the quick, smart fix.
On the other hand, college enrollment nationwide appears to have taken a hit in Pandemic 2020.
CUNY is down 4.4% and state universities in New York are down 5%.
Yes it needs to continue. However, given past years, I'll take it.
March on triumphantly!
