I know they are not in the Valley any more, but Wichita State Just hired Eric Wedge as their head coach to get their program back on track.  Managed many years in the big leagues and played on WSU CWS championship team.  If there was ever a program that needs to get back on track, it is ours.  Let’s do what needs to be done for the good of Saluki Baseball.

Wichita has been mediocre ever since they stupidly fired Gene Stephenson. They'll get better now -Wedge knows his stuff. Wonder how much they're paying him!

I just don’t understand why they wasted so much money on baseball if competing in it clearly doesn’t matter much.  If it is a trash sport now then don’t waste valuable resources on it

It makes me wonder if SIU, frankly, has ever truly considered that baseball is a revenue sport at most places these days. Putting more money in needs to yield increased revenue generation. Otherwise, what’s the point of the investment? Division I athletics is a big business these days. What makes SIU baseball think it is any different? Especially when the big talk came out that we were going to see big improvements this season.

There's not really a competitive/performance-based argument that can be made for keeping Henderson. Lord knows he's had plenty of time.

I don't live or die with Saluki baseball, so whatever, but I do think keeping him would send mixed signals to the Athletic Dept. about what the standards/expectations are, and would run somewhat counter to the tone that Kill has tried to set since becoming AD.

I'm happy to see The Valley schools that made it to the NCAA Tournament doing so well.  It's fantastic!

I'm waiting for Jerry Kill to do something about SIU's program.  Where's the announcement Kill?  C'mon, let's right this ship too.  There's no point in just fielding a program.  Raise the expectations.

If I were the rest of The Valley, I'd be a little irritated with SIU for not attempting to improve the league.

I’d say it is fairly clear he isn’t going to pull trigger, there would be no reason to continue keeping him this far into the offseason

I doubt we invest in the 2020 if there were intention to move him. It maybe his last shot though. We bought you the tournament so put up or get out.

Craving a McBride Special!

ISU is in the regional final in Louisville.  Last year they were 22-30 in the MVC and fired the coach.  Got an assistant from Purdue and he wins MVC Coach of the Year and look where they are now.  It can be done.  Make the commitment to get somebody in there that will change the culture and keep us from being the doormat.

ISU scored 2 in the 9th to tie Louisville only to lose in the bottom of the inning.  As much  as I cannot stand the Turdbirds, they were a very good team and they now have a lot to look forward to in the future.  Shows how much work we have to do with our program to be in that same conversation in the MVC.

Hendo and SIU have announced separation by mutual consent.

I wish Coach Henderson the best of luck in all future endeavors.
