In case you missed it, Saluki Hall of Famer and two-time Olympic Silver medalist in the shot put, George Woods passed away last at the age of 79.  He also held the world's indoor shot-put record of 72'3" for 11 years.

RIP George Woods.

I believe Mr. Woods is the only Saluki to have medaled in the Olympics. A great Saluki for sure!

@mr_woogers

George Woods was the only Saluki to win Summer Olympics medals.  Garrett Hines won Silver in the 4-man bobsled in 2002 Winter Olympics.

SIU Olympians

IDK why but I've had in my craw for years now that Plab or Wright had earned a bronze in the High Jump in the '90's, but alas, I'm wrong.

Go Dawgs!
