Watched the last few innings of InSU Vandy. Repeat - Vandy is #4 in the country and in 1st in the SEC, and the Sycs just kicked their butt (after sweeping three from Belmont in Nashville). Vandy didn't score a run until the 8th. Insu looked really, really good - man they can hit. The SEC announcers were pretty impressed with the SYcs.
The one reliever I caught a couple innings of has a major league curve that drops off the table. Their record before the MVC started was just 11 - 11. They played the kind of schedule we should be going for - Iowa(0-1), Illinois (1-0), Indiana(1-1), Miami(0-1), Kentucky (0-3), Purdue (2-0) but they have it going right now. We'll need some very good pitching and hitting this weekend.
MCV:
Indiana State 11-1
Southern Illinois 10-2
Missouri State 8-4
Murray State 6-5
Didn’t watch the game but Rhodes was not happy with Austin Pee

Tune in at 1pm on ESPN+ for the first game of what is likely the biggest series of the year.
Bloemer is the likely starter. Hopefully he continues his good starts.
Southern gets a wind-aided, 3-run homer to take a 5-4 lead over ISUblue in the top of the 7th inning.

SIU and ISUblue tied 5-5 going into the 9th.
Salukis lose 6-5 on a double, a sacrifice bunt and a throwing error by the pitcher.
Dawgs look to make up for last night's loss at 2 pm on ESPNU. Tanner Lewis with the start.
InSU 10 SIU 0
We got 1 hit. Sycs pounded our relief pitching and we hit a million ground balls right to their very good infield.
Tanner Lewis was decent as the starter. Once he left, Sycs took batting practice. 12 hits to our one.
One more chance tomorrow.
I'd be pretty surprised if anyone went to Terre Haute and beat the Trees in the MVC Tournament. They look like a team that can make some noise in the NCAA Tournament.

Yeh - they're impressive. They deserve to be ranked. Good pitching, hitting, fielding. Hopefully we can get one tomorrow.
Diamond dogs appear to be back in a rut. I understand ISU blue is a good team, but the offense has been non-existent this weekend. Down 3-1 in the 6th today and looks like they are about to get swept.
After much hype to start the season and a great deal of optimism in reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time in too many years, the Diamond Dawgs have under achieved. Gotta pick up the pace and start competing at a higher level.
