Run ruled by the Turds! Our pitching staff might be one of the worst we've ever had.

The only way the Dawgs win any game in this tournament is to win by scoring double figure runs and hoping they have enough.

I just can't stand how we don't recruit any high school kids for baseball it seems

@salukifan32 We are not the only ones not recruiting high school players. It is the norm for college baseball. The JUCOS and low D-1 and D-2 are the recruiting grounds for mid and high D-1 now. I don’t like it either, but when you watch the games on TV they continuously state that this player transferred from here and this player from there on almost every player.

Oh I know but it wouldn't kill us to try and develop a few as freshman. Been working for the softball program. Good players from this area should want to go to SIU but that doesn't even seem like an option these days at least for baseball

25 of Indiana States 40 man roster are prep players. 6 of their regular starting 9 are prep players.

Illinois State has 19 of prep players of their 38. 5 of their regular starters were recruited out of HS.

Literally no one recruits like Lance Rhodes and it's why SIU will never be successful under him.

There might be random lightning in a bottle seasons where everything falls just right like 2022 but it's mostly going to be mediocrity.

But considering he also schedules almost as weakly as possible a team that won the Valley and 44 games wasn't even considered for an at large berth.

Rhodes is the Barry Hinson of baseball.

If he brings in high quality transfers, why will SIU never been successful under Rhodes?

Rhodes led a program that’s been terrible for 30 years to an MVC Championship just 2 years ago.  He’s significantly better than Barry Hinson.  That being said, I think the loss of Tim Jamieson has had negative impacts on the program because their pitching has been horrific since he left

I was all geared up to stay up late and watch SIU-ISU last night. Went to bed in the fourth inning.

Sad that the bracket fell SIU’s way and that’s the kind of pitching they throw out there in game three of the tournament.

We had 7 walks and 3 hit batsmen against Illinois State. That is terrible for a baseball team at any level.

Evansville run-ruled UIC 12-1. NOw, UIC has to come back and play the Trees at 6:00 tonight. The winner of that game will play SIU at 11:00 tomorrow morning.

So, looking like a re-match with ISU.

SIU won’t play today, seems like an 11 AM game against the winner of Indiana State/UIC

Out of those two...we've had better success against the Tree's. I don't know that I want to role the dice with that again though. At least we can rest our arms tonight. We are going to need Foeller to have a good outing tomorrow (I assume that's who we'll throw) to save the bullpen arms we would need for the next game.
