I really dont think SIU should become a program that is reliant on JUCOs, transfers, and grad transfers.
It should be prep players as first, second, and third option and the JUCOs and transfers should only be taken if the options are spent and you have an open scholarship that you wouldn't fill otherwise.

I mean having JUCOs and transfers didn't seem to bother Drake last year. The goal should be to get good players on your team no matter how you have to do so

Ideally, you're right. But in today's world with the amount of transfers going on (Over 1,500 last year I believe), you have to make that a major part of your recruiting. Guys just don't stay 4 years anymore.
Also, consider this. A player that hasn't transferred yet (such as an incoming freshman) can leave and play immediately. A player that is transferring in cannot leave again without having to sit a year. Basically, if you recruit a freshman, he can leave immediately. If you pick up a transfer, he can't. It is potentially the easiest way to retain players for 2-3 years.

*Snipped)Spike I assume you went a JC before SIU, just by reading your posts. As you well know some of these kids can't find the library, let alone a book in it.JC gives them a chance to learn something and bring their grades up.

Can't vouch for the other schools, but I think the UNI listing is inaccurate.
Hearing a Texas size recruit coming in this weekend for homecoming. Let’s hope football and basketball has a happy homecoming 😀
I just watched some videos of Hornecker and he has great range and can really run the floor. Especially for a 7 footer. He would make a great Saluki.
247 lists Hornecker as a 7 footer and has this blurb about him and a Group of 5 Starter projection:
https://247sports.com/Player/Cade-Hornecker-46103225/
Hornecker is a 6-foot-11 big man who has a natural element of touch to his game that should continue to develop. Learning the art of the post-up game will take time but when he understands it and can score over like size he will become a decent low post scorer. His glaring weakness comes in terms of his everyday passion to play the game as he needs to become more assertive in seeking the ball off the rim and protecting it. However, his size and skill give him the potential to be a productive collegiate big man down the road.
Zagsblog did a story on him in January and I found this interesting in his thoughts about Kansas State:

Kansas State: “I had a Zoom meeting with them over the summer and it went well. I like their coaching staff a lot. They play almost identically to my high school team. One of our nicknames is “Floor Burn High” and it just means that we get on the floor and hustle, etc. Kansas State is good at putting weight and more importantly muscle on many of their players, which is a big selling point me. Despite their minor struggles this season, I still think I would interested in going to school there, possibly.”
It's interesting that Painter and Weber/Lowery were both after him

To be fair Name a 7 footer that Painter is not after 😁 Purdue always had 4-5 of them
Anyone heard anything about his visit? Did anyone see him at the football game ? Awfully quiet on the recruiting front .
We have a commitment!
