Wow! Great get Mr. Mullins. Welcome to Dawg Nation Mr.Hornecker
Congrats to the coaching staff for ending the mini-drought with a promising, tall drink of water.
Pretty wild to think of the possibility of Muila, Filewich, Ebube and the big Texan all on the roster next year. I don't think SIU has ever had that many talented bigs in the mix at the same time. If redshirting were still a thing, I'd think that option would make sense next year if everyone returns.
Guess that's A) A good problem to have and B) A ways off.
In the meantime, here's hoping they add some athleticism and/or a point guard with their remaining ride(s), be it in the coming weeks or in the spring.
We have a commitment!

Yee Haw !
Awesome, Center will be a 4 headed monster next year! Crazy depth in the post.
He has a very nice touch in the videos I've watched and even a little range. Not overly athletic, but not a door knob either. Doesn't have huge hops, but can get off the floor a little. He holds the ball high on both his post moves and jump shot, which is great to see. Looks like he has a lot of developing to do, but with Ebube, Filewich and Muila all on the roster next year he has plenty of time to develop. I can see the huge upside. Get him here in the summer so our S & C coach can help him add weight and strength and the bball coaches can work on his footwork. He could be dominant in the mvc in a few years.

Yeah seems like he's a bit of a project. Hefferman tweeted he only averaged 8.9 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 1 BPG last year which seems hard to believe for a 7 footer in high school. I'm guessing some bigger schools backed off because of that. But the staff has shown they can develop big men going back to Krutwig at Loyola and Filewich last year who also looked like a project.
One other thing, if we don't lose anyone next year, we will look like a power 5 team at the airport! That will be a nice change after looking like a D2 team at the airport most of the last 10 years!
None of us really know much about this kid and his numbers aren’t impressive, but he was probably on a team with some elite scorers.
Just the fact he had offers from Oklahoma, Kansas State, Creighton and Wichita lead me to believe he’s a great get. 🏀
Finally getting some needed size and depth.

His teammate is 6'5 Brendan Hausen. Four star 2022 SG who committed to Villanova. So yea, Hornecker was not the first option for Amarillo HS.
Wow, now this is a big splash for the 2022 class. Just in beating out some of the programs that had already offered for this 7 footers services is quite the accomplishment, and could pay dividends in helping SIU land more highly regarded recruits going forward.
Watching some film on him leaves little doubt in my mind that had we not sealed the deal early, he would've had a lot more suitors in the near future. The skill and potential on display is undeniable. He can shoot it and has plus footwork in the post both offensively and defensively. He also looks fairly athletic to me. He may not be a sky walker, but he can definitely get off the ground. He's absolutely not a "below the rim" type like Filewich.
I'd say the two areas with room for improvement would be strength and foot speed. For SIU's purposes though, with a little polishing, Cade could terrorize the MVC in the not too distant future. Huge, huge get!
