....Pretty wild to think of the possibility of Muila, Filewich, Ebube and the big Texan all on the roster next year. I don't think SIU has ever had that many talented bigs in the mix at the same time......
2001-2002
Rolan Roberts, 6'6
Jermaine Dearman, 6'8
Sylvester Willis, 6'7
Brad Korn, 6'9
Josh Warren, 6'8
To be fair, Warren was on roster but did red shirt during this 2001-2002 season.
It was always tough for me to think of Brad Korn as a “big”, tall yes, but not big. On another note I find it at least mildly amusing that Bryan Mullins beat out, among others, Weber & Lowery, Painter, (albeit Purdue had not yet offered), and Porter Moser. The future could not be any brighter.

Based on recruiting ranking and other offers that our new Texas Center has, is he the most hyped recruit during the Mullins ERA so far? Yes we know how good Domask turned out, but those offers for the new guy are legit!
247 grades him as a 0.8872 3 star recruit which would put him only behind Booker and Dillard as best recruits since they started tracking and ahead of guys like Darius Beane, Dantiel Daniels, Devonte Drinkard, Jordan Armstrong, Josh Swan, Torres Roundtree, and Bryan Mullins.
I would say recruiting gets a little sketchy when you get to mid-major talent. A lot of guys aren’t properly scouted or even scouted as all. Like Marcus Domask and Foster Wonders never got 247 recruiting grades.
Highlights of our newest commit:
--Insert something witty here--
Looks like a killer recruit, I like that he can make that mid range jumper. That can definitely break down a defense, for gaurds penetrating , and 1 on 1 matchups in our favor, looking forward to attending some games this year, hopefully this team can get over the hump in conference play and make a run in the mvc tournament 👍
Saluki Stadium, the pageantry of Homecoming, and Carbondale reminded Hornecker of Amarillo, a town of more than 190,000 people 121 miles north of Lubbock and 259 miles west of Oklahoma City.
"Just, everything, it just felt like normal," Hornecker said. "It just felt like my high school."
"It just felt like home in Carbondale," he said. "Why waste these other peoples' time, when I know where I need to be?"
"I think it'll fit well. I think I do the little things that cause teams to win, so, hopefully I can make an impact at Southern Illinois for years to come," he said. "My mid-range and post-scoring are definitely spot on. I've been working on that. I've been working on my shot. I shoot 3s. My mid-range is definitely my best shot, but I'll score down low, I'll shoot 3s. Try to do it all."

With the commitment of Hornecker, I would be surprised if Avila picked SIU.

Does Avila have the skill set to be a giant small forward?

I think he has the skill set but in "slo-mo". He lacks the athleticism folks on this board think our roster should upgrade including myself.
I don't think SIU is still recruiting this kid, even before the Cade Hornecker commit. I am sure that they have moved on from him.
Looks like he has a nice shooting touch and passing skills
Don’t over think it. BM and staff would take Avila.
I think Avila would be a good fit along with Hornecker.
Avila's had interest from some big mid-majors including Richmond and had an offer from DePaul. I think he'd fit in well.
