It's official !!!
Who can forget the Deng Leek era?
Hornecker will become the fifth 7-footer in program history, joining Deng Leek (2015-16), Kobby Acquah (2007), Shane Wells (1995-96) and Marcelo da Silva (1991-94).

If it is please do not tell Barkeep. I would probably have to head over to his place to talk him off the ledge. 😂

He killed us in the Arch Madness game last year, really impressive player. But doubt he went from UMass to Bradley to #2 JUCO to head back to the Missouri Valley

Same. I would take Moore. Plays with a chip on his shoulder. Averaging 23 pts/ 7 ast through first eight games.
Not getting much info on how Cade Hornecker is doing because Amarillo's newspaper tends to put high school stuff behind a paywall. But did find a box score from Amarillo's 62-26 win from Wednesday and Hornecker led the team with 16 points:
AHS – Cade Hornecker 16, Brendan Hausen 12, Damonze Woods 12; MON – ZyRin Brantley 8, Vyson Miller 7, Neeko Young 5.

Posted this in the Southern Miss thread but Brendan Mullins has good stuff on Hornecker here as well as other recruiting stuff:

Wish list for spring recruiting, assuming they end up with at least one additional scholarship to play with (so two overall for the spring):
- A PG who can contribute right away. Only two on the current roster, and as shown by Jones' recent injury, that's asking for trouble.
- Best available athlete (who can play). Overall length/athleticism/explosiveness continues to be fairly light on the Saluki roster (as shown with continued weak offensive rebounding output), and Coupet is gone after this year.
You can see why Quinn and Benson were tough recruiting losses, but hopefully the spring period brings good developments. And it's easy to be enthused about Hornecker's upside, though I'm not convinced he'll be ready to make a major splash as a true freshman as a lean big guy.

Think the Quinn one hurts a lot less now that Loyola is off to the A-10. Guessing Loyola had a hunch at that point that a move was likely and he was pitched that. Still stings to not win out on any Illinois Wolves products right now but Mike's program is almost becoming too good at this point. They're sending guys to Michigan State and Duke.

Maybe, though it's a fair amount easier for his Tuscola family to see him play in Normal, Peoria, Terre Haute, etc., than all those east coast A-10 games (I'll call Carbondale and Chicago about a wash).
As for the Wolves, there's something to that, though they usually have a second or third tier of kids who are MVC candidates (see Ebube at Southern, Enright at Drake, etc.). I think one of their big kids recently signed with Milwaukee.

Whoops forgot Ebube was an Illinois Wolves get so I shouldn't say we're not winning out on any of them (Barret Benson also had Wolves connections) and I really think he's gonna be a good one eventually based on what the staff is saying about him.
