You guys don't even know if we're recruiting half these players or not. There have been many false assumptions on here. Just because we are following them or connected to them in some way does not mean we've offered them a scholly.

While I’m sure that is generally the case, in the case of the Iona kid, a visit at this stage suggests a level of seriousness about his recruitment.

It may not even be us, on more than one occasion players stated to be interested in SIU were in fact recruits of SIUE. This may not even be SIU.
Why do people assume that's not us? James seems like an upgrade over Filewich to me. Was highly recruited out of high school (some say he was a 4 star, I see 3 stars everywhere). Yeah Southern Indiana is in the mix but so is Chattanooga, the team that nearly beat Illinois in the NCAA Tournament a few weeks ago.

Also had an offer from Iowa out of high school. Plus Rick Pitino isn't recruiting you if you can't play

I asked in another thread if they visit are we serious about them?

He was actually committed to Wake Forest out of High School before they had a coaching change, he opened his recruitment back up and ended up with Rick Petino at Chattanooga where they are very deep at the 4-5 spots. So the fact he didn't play much as a freshmen isn't really necessarily a knock on his abilities, he just has a lot of upper classmen ahead of him on the depth chart.
He may be a beast in the MVC, who knows. And yes, He was a 4 star recruit out of HS per ESPN

Evan Miya has Perry as the 442nd ranked transfer in the portal. He projects out much better on the offensive end (5.8 OBPR) than the defensive end (-7.1 DBPR) for 2023. He was 469th in the country in assist rate last year and 462nd in the country in turnover rate so he fits what we're looking for.

For reference can you post where Dalton Banks lands in the offensive and defensive categories?

Banks was -1.6 OBPR, -4.5 DBPR, -6.1 total BPR last year. If Banks were in the portal with his 2022 stats as opposed to his 2023 projections (which I don't think is on the site), he'd be the 669th ranked player in the portal
Lance Jones was 11.2 OBPR, 6.3 DBPR, 17.5 total BPR. Jones would be the 83rd ranked player in the portal with last year's numbers.

Thanks for sharing! Perry is an upgrade, but not sure how much he'll move the needle for us

Yeah if they get Perry, I'd like to them hit a triple or homer on the other transfer. Perry would be a one year rental but seems like a decent option. His Lafayette bio says he was the team captain and finished 16th in Lafayette history in 3 point field goals with 144.
I'm pretty happy it looks like Banks is hanging around. Think he's a great option off the bench, especially if he improves his offensive game. SIU looked better when he was on the court running the offense last year compared to what they had early in the season.
I can see Mullins being willing to take a flier on Trey James. He only played a few games for Iona this season, so hard to tell how his skills translate to the college level, and Iona was good this year, so maybe he was down on the depth chart simply due to numbers.
Judging from his list, he wants to get closer to home (Kentucky).
