I like it, is an upgrade over what we currently have. This also allows Jones to play his natural position. Now we need a versatile 4

Johnson was 110th in the country last year in assist rate and 322nd in the country in free throw rate

Xavier is a senior so he has two years left with his covid year, right?

One year or two years of eligibility I am still confused over this covid extra year stuff as he will be a 4th year senior

Not much of a scorer - good assists guy on a bad team. Didn't play much last 5 games. GM beat Georgia by 13 in Dec. Johnson and Cook each played 33 minutes.

XJ 6pts (6 - 8 FTs, 0 - 3 FGs), 9 assists, 7 rbs, 3 TOs, 0 steals

Aaron Cook (4 pts, 2 - 10 FGs),  5 assists, 1 rb, 1 TO, 2 steals

George Mason ranked higher than us in KenPom, wouldn't say they were a bad team.  I would be interested in why he's transferring away from a local school that has a pretty bright future under Kim English but maybe they just have a lot of guard depth?

the covid year doesn't count, so yes, he has played two years, has two years left.

George Mason just got a commit from a 4star pg transfer from Tenessee, he may have not wanted to ride the bench his last two years.

Makes sense, and SIU is likely offering up a starting spot on a team that finished right around George Mason in KenPom last year and the ability to run the offense.

I don’t imagine this was their top guy (I guess this means we are out on Moore). He doesn’t score a ton, and we definitely need help there, but I like the Asst to Turnover  and rebound numbers. Looks like he’s pretty solid on defense too.

This makes it very important to get someone who’s going to score with this next scholarship.

Don't just look at points. This guy is very good and will be an impact PG for us. He averaged 4.6 assists a game, which would have far and away led the valley. Also, he did it in a league ranked ahead of the mvc. Terry Roberts led the mvc with 4.1 APG.

He plays great defense, which will fit our system and culture well. 7.7 points a game is fine when you are dishing out almost 5 dimes a game. He has 2 years left and has improved every year. He also rebounds well at 4.1 a game. Also, averaged over 30 minutes a game for a decent team in a tough league. As others have said, Jones will move to the 2, which I have been hoping for since he came here. Also, Banks is a very capable backup.

A good PG can make all the difference to an offense. Domask and Jones are probably pretty stoked, as their respective tables will be set, big time!

Pshaw on Ken Pom Pom!

GMU was 14 - 16, 7 - 9. Not terrible...but bad in my opinion.

Had a few good wins - Richmond, Dayton, St. Bonnie.

Lost their last three games.

I'm not excited about this signing at all.

Our NET was 137, George Mason's NET was 114. We don't have any wins like Richmond, Dayton or St. Bonaventure. They were all better than Colorado, which was by far our best win. 4.6 APG, 7.7 ppg and great defense from a PG on arguably a better team in a better league. I'll take it. He was the straw that stirred the drink for them.

You're entitled to not be excited, but you'll be proven wrong next bball season, just my humble opinion. Plus, I believe Mullins, an SIU hall of fame PG knows how to evaluate a veteran PG.
