When was the last player from John A. Logan signed by SIU? How about the last three? It sure doesn't seem like SIU has that good of a relationship with them. Even with the Smithpeters brothers there.
Lance Brown, I believe.
A player who wasn’t a walk on
I understand Chris Peyton worked out with the Saluki team today for an hour. Was impressive, 6-8 and can handle the ball. Was teamed with Jones and Ebube. Official visit !
spent last year at Pitt? how many years left?
played 40 minutes at Pitt I guess
Think he has 2 years left with the extra COVID year. Guessing he won’t have to sit the year because the JUCO to D1 year doesn’t count as a sit-out year?

Correct, two years.
I'm personally not worried about Payton's history (whatever that history is). The staff isn't going to take a chance on him if they think he might cause problems. I more worry about how little he played at Pitt when they were a dumpster fire last year. Apparently they had some big recruits ahead of him on the depth chart so that might be why but still can't believe he didn't get any run there. But I trust the staff here and Payton has obvious talent. I was excited about him coming out of HS and would have been excited about him coming out of JUCO.
I see no reason why Peyton would not be a good player in the valley. Super talented. Just don’t get the 40 minutes of action for a bad Pitt team.
I did some digging and read some articles on Chris Payton. He was very highly thought of coming out of Indian Hills CC where he averaged 12.5 PPG, 10 RPG, and 2.5 BPG. In fact, he was a consensus Top 5 Juco Recruit. And Pitt was excited to land him. Not sure what happened with his playing time there. But if he was good enough for the ACC, I'd say he's plenty good for the MVC. He's a freakishly good athlete who plays above the rim. I'm hoping we can get a verbal from him this him week. Here's some video:

Or if you want to see Chris Payton and JD Muila on the same court:
He looks like exactly what we need. Like others I don't understand so little playing time at Pitt. I wonder if there was some kind of injury.
Payton does have everything SIU is lacking and desperately needs. If they add him, its very easy to be excited envisioning an adept table-setter like Johnson coupled with a front court that features Ebube and Payton. I can see what the coaching staff is thinking here and I really like it.
In an instant, we would upgrade from what once was an athletic sore spot to what looks to be the biggest, most athletic front court in the MVC.
Seal the deal!
--Insert something witty here--
If he signs with The SIU, he could be playing for one of the best teams in the MVC. 😍
