Can't imagine what a relief it is for the staff to have in-person visits again
Jalen Quinn due in town tomorrow, I believe. Probably the most hotly recruited prospect they’ve hosted on campus in the limited period they’ve been able to host recruits (pre and post-COVID), with interest from power conference programs like Marquette and Illinois and offers so far from SLU, Loyola, etc.
If they can find a way to sign Quinn, anyone else they end up with in the 2022 class would be gravy IMO. He’d be a massive get and give Southern a potentially dynamite backcourt going forward. But his recruitment might get even more competitive after the July AAU period.
Not sure how many scholarships that we will end up with at the time but I'd love to sign both Avila and Quinn for next season!

Article on 6'7 Forward Zach Cleveland from Normal, IL who has a visit later this month
Other visits lined up according to Prephoops.com:
Robbie Avila 6'8 PF Oak Forest:
"Avila has emerged as an extremely coveted mid-major post prospect that is going to have a heated recruitment over the next few months. The skilled four man will kick it off with Loyola on June 1. He will then head out to Richmond on June 11 and follow that up with Southern Illinois on June 14."
NJ Benson 6'6 PF Mt. Vernon:
"The top post player from Southern Illinois is gaining momentum in his recruitment and that is shown in his visit list. Benson will trip to Butler on June 3, Ohio on June 13, and Illinois State on June 15. South Dakota State and Southern Illinois are also in the mix for potential visits in June."
Zach Cleveland 6'7 PF Normal Community:
"Cleveland might be the biggest stock riser in the state as he will see a massive jump in the next rankings update. The skilled face up four man who runs with the Illinois Hoopstars on the Prep Hoops Circuit has several visits lined up. SIU-Edwardsville on June 3, Belmont on June 11, Liberty June 13, Wofford June 21, Loyola on June 28, and Southern Illinois on June 30."
Benson's recruitment is picking up some steam:

Benson also has an offer from SLU. I expect he'll get quite a few more offers in the near future. Looks to be a little undersized, but we've had plenty of success with 6'6"/6'7" forwards. Would be a shame to lose a D1 caliber guy in our back yard. One of the things I love seeing in his stats and those that are evaluating him...he's a monster on the glass!
Another offer. 5’11 3 star guard Tayshawn Comer from Indianapolis.

Man I would love to know where these scholarships are going to come from.
@barkeep-1967 Right now we have one scholarship for next year, but with yearly transfers and lasting medical considerations we will almost assuredly have at least one more.
