Brian Moore's last two likes on twitter are AJ Ferguson's tweet committing to SIU, and Matt McMahon saying thank you to Murray State. In case anyone wanted to add suspense. Haha
@dr222 That did sound like Mike Reis. With only this film to go by, Mr. Ferguson looks like a younger version of Ben Coupet. Similar athleticism.
While I was very pleased to have Coupet on our team and would gladly take a clone of him, this small sample of video shows better moves around the basket. Furguson looks like more of a shot creator. Obviously we won't know until we actually see him play but I'm hopeful.

Ditto on both counts. Ferguson looks like a Coupet replacement, but he's only 19 and has 3 years of eligibility. The staff must like his potential.
And I also noticed the announcer sounds like Reis! 🤣

I like the addition! Mr. Ferguson can hoop!
Is it just me, or does it sound like a Mike Reis copycat making the call on the play at the :20 mark of this video?
Well.. this kid certainly has all the tools. Here's hoping he's a late bloomer because with his height, athleticism, ability to knock down 3's, handle the ball and defend, he definitely has the potential to develop into a very nice player in this league.
When SIU was great, we made a living on finding and developing players with this type of profile.
Like others on here, I still suspect there will be one more addition for next year; likely a 4 or 5 with experience (and hopefully high-end athleticism).
I am curious as to what the reaction would be on this board if we have just signed Tony Young. Who remembers that? Weber & Co. went to Chicago for an event where they had invited local players to come in. Exactly one player showed up. Weber offered him on the spot, since he had showed up. Tony Young. What say we give Ferguson an opportunity to at least get on the court before we declare him unfit?
The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.
James Madison
Agreed! I recall another 6'6" player that transferred in with the last name of Roberts. Oh yeah, Rolen Roberts was the dude. Not sayin there is a comparison here of the two, but we may have a player just the same.

Definitely not declaring him unfit and keeping an open mind, but he has about as light of an internet/social media recruiting footprint as a D-I recruit can have in 2022. If he turns into a good player, kudos to the staff for seeing something in him that apparently not many other schools did.

Roberts was a high-major player that dropped because of off the court issues. Don’t think there’s much of a comparison here.
Welcome Anthony!
If the roster is set, I think we're still behind Drake but I don't see any other teams ahead of us; Bradley and MoState are close behind.

BTW, Tony Young is the head basketball coach at Fenwick HS, Oak Park, IL. Maybe that will pay dividends in the future.

Felt the same way after trying to find info about the kid. Staggering how little there is. I only hope he was offered by at least one other D1 program but was so far off the radar that no one broadcasted it, not even himself. The last offers he tweeted were from late 2020 / early 2021 when he was offered by East Central University and Seton Hill (not Hall).
Off to Murray
The 'Ja' effect is very real and alive. He's going to be their best recruiter for years to come. He has a large social media following and is very active and promotional for Murray games on Twitter. Plus every kid wants to be Ja Morant. He's must-watch TV.
