Started every game of the NCAA Tournament run

Watching the highlights, really impressed with his basketball smarts and unselfishness. Several really nice passes. He's definitely a 5, though, with almost all his baskets right at the rim ... going to be a logjam at the 5, but guessing this guy starts. Should have great post depth.

I think all 4 bigs can play and find minutes but I wouldn’t be shocked if Hornecker redshirted.  That Saint Peter’s team was all about unselfishness, love tapping into that pipeline.

Rupert is ranked 264 on EvanMiya with -1.8 OBPR, 10.9 DBPR, 9.1 BPR projections for next year.  Hopefully he develops on offense but this seems like a Mullins guy and I approve.  Plus he was a key piece on an Elite Eight team.  Good work by the staff.

Rupert was a four time all-state player. Interesting: he originally committed to Murray State but ended up at St. Peters. 6'8 245 I like the size!

Dawgbytes will appreciate that he helped vanquish the dreaded blue and gold in the Dance.

Coaches know what they're getting in Ferguson. Not to worry.

Rupert is exactly what board posters have been crying for---a power forward! Terrific news!

Am I wrong Tony Young played the 5 in HS and was not recruited at all?

Not sure Tony Young played the 5 position all the time in high school. From what I remember the story being, Tony jumped center to start each game for his State Champion high school team because he had the highest vertical leap of the players on his team.  He also drew the defensive assignment of guarding 7 footer, Eddy Curry, in the State Championship game because of his leaping ability.

So his swatting away the dunk attempt of 7 footer Patrick O'Bryant was just another day at the office for Tony!!  Probably including the introduction of "little Mr. Elbow" to O' Bryant's head too!!

Four names from the transfer portal that are still available.  There appears to be some SIU Twitter interest.

The listed rankings come from evanmiya.com

#217 - 3.3 Stars - Donnie "DT" Tillman 6'7, SF, Grad Transfer, transferring from New Mexico State, hometown, Detroit, MI

@D_Tillman3

#314 - 4 Star - Jaxson Robinson  6'7, SG, Freshman, transferring from Arkansas, hometown, Ada, OK

https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jaxson-robinson

@Robinsonjaxx

#585 - 4 Star - Jake Forrester 6'9, PF, Junior, transferring from Temple, hometown, Harrisburg, PA

https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jake-forrester

@begreatjake

#681 - 4.3 Stars - D.J. Harvey 6'6, SF, RS Junior, transferring from Detroit Mercy, hometown, Huntsville, AL

https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/d-j-harvey

@TheRealDJHarvey

Jake Forrester just committed to Saint Louis.

A lot depends on if Ben Harvey is healthy enough to be back on the court next season.

I think you need to look bigger.  This team really doesn’t have room for guards.  They only have Ebube, Muila, and Hornecker in the front court and 2 haven’t played a D1 game.  Also think D’Amico can play the 4 and might even be in contention to start and while I expect D’Amico to take a bigger step offensively, I’d really be concerned about the offense again.

You were right!!  A big it is!!

Very nice addition too!

I think he can play the 4.  Looks like a great passer and can handle & shoot outside.  Playing him and Ebube at the same time would be beastly.

I hope this isn't considered $hitty, but I would not be surprised to see Muila in the transfer portal.

@jabman62  I agree and I don't think a program like ours can afford to redshirt anyone in this new transfer portal world.
