@insaluki unfortunately siu basketball is not on the upswing. Maybe In football.. Mullins first year was his best year so far. Hasn’t been over .500 since I’m conference and the mvc has changed in our favor as all the good  teams are leaving. Only 3 years in.. hopefully next year is the year.

Typically, and this will likely be the last response, I don't respond to trolls, but in this case I feel obligated.  SIU basketball has struggled the last 3 seasons and I have been called out for being a realist about their recent struggles.   I also have had disagreements in that I hasn't been impressed with this staff's recruiting (until THIS offseason).  But, based on the returning lineup, the offseason acquisitions AND the turnover in the Valley, I would say MOST would say that SIU is in a position to see a significant improvement over last year and the previous 3 seasons in total.  This would constitute an upswing.

@insaluki no trolling here, simply stating facts. Sucks that’s what’s it’s called when your being brutally honest. Sad. I  Just want to see SIU win something it’s been so long I’d hate to see Mullins go when he’s the one who’s played here and brought us something as a player and so far as a coach

In Mullin's first season SIU, if my memory serves me correctly, SIU was picked to finish last in the conference, and they finished 5th I believe, I would not classify that as "struggling". The next year they won 7 straight games, including knocking off Butler, and breaking their 58 straight home winning streak in the process. During the game Marcus Domask suffered a foot injury and missed the rest of the season. Who expected us to keep on winning then? Last year was below expectations, albeit several of the losses to the top teams were by 1-3 points. IF we don't make a strong run this season I will be disappointed, but, up until now, I think much of the negativity is overdone and unwarranted.

Mused about Chris Carr's son a while back, and this could be more than a pipe dream, it appears. Would be a fun one!

It seems to me that Mullins and crew have definitely opened up more avenues in recruiting to more places than we have seen in a long time not just settling for local to midwest metro areas more areas mean more chances to hit a homerun and increase our profile
