@mdogs1 I just saw on Instagram that Kennard Davis committed to SIU!  Great news.

This is a huge get.  He'd be our 4th best recruit by 247 behind Booker, Dillard, and Hornecker.

Also, fills what SIU has been sorely lacking in recent years. A long athletic wing. If Ferguson develops we could be getting much more athletic in the near future!

We've been wondering about the plan for when Domask left and I think we just found his replacement.  SIU would go into next year with 2 of their 4 biggest commits ever as underclassmen.  Staff deserves a lot of credit, think they got their big target here.

Next year's team is going to be a ton of fun if Domask/Jones are back.

When is the last time we had 3 legit 3-star players on our roster? (Domask, Hornecker, Davis)

Definitely, I think he projects as an athletic 3 at SIU. His skill set is extensive. He can shoot, bang, rebound, guard, etc. Another exciting aspect is he plays ultra competitive competition at Vashon and on Mokan AAU. He is the kind of talent that can come in as a freshman and contribute.

Very exciting pickup! Hopefully it's all the more incentive for Domask and Jones to stick around for a "last dance," but either way, he sounds like a baller and a great future building block. Also like dipping back into St. Louis from a recruiting standpoint.

Nice work by the staff!

The accolades keep coming for Mullins and staff on recruiting.

Slow recruiting does not bother me much.  I think we expect Domask and Jones back, they won't want to add a freshman to that team, they will want to add a big time transfer.  At that point you would be thinking NCAA tournament or bust and even thinking about advancing a round or two... Then the recruiting takes off and we never look back.

Still think it would be great to land one HS recruit, hoping for Kennard Davis Jr from St. Louis but it'll be tough competition to get him.

As far as I know, we have three offers on the table. Davis who I would love for us to get; 6'6 SF athletic, versatile, plays great D, comes from a winning pedigree; Vashon HS in St. Louis has won 13 state championships. I'm writing off Cameron Carr, too many power five schools interested. Tristan Gross 6'5 PG from Florida: another long shot. Recently visited Dartmouth. If we have fifth year seniors coming back, then I also agree, adding freshman doesn't become so critical. If the last couple of years are any indication, there will be almost 2000 transfers in the portal by next spring.

If we are being selective I still think Davis would be a great pick up for SIU. He is from St Louis which is a critical recruiting area for SIU and we would be beating out Bradley among others which would certainly make some of us really happy 😃

This feels like a really good get. I watched Vashon at the Centralia Holiday Tournament last year and they were unreal. A couple of their kids were transfers from Centralia but I'm not sure if Davis was one of them.

How about this news to wake up to. I know nothing about him, but he had a bunch of nice offers. Looks like a great pick up by Mullins and staff. Makes me excited for the season.

Who else besides Mo State, SEMO and W ILL had offered? Just curious.

Davis is currently ranked No. 4 in the Prep Hoops Missouri Class of 2023 rankings. He has played a big role in the Wolverines run to back to back Class 4 state championships.

As a junior, Davis averaged a team-high 11.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and two steals a game to lead the Wolverines to a 27-4 record. He averaged 10.1 points and five rebounds as a sophomore.

During the summer grassroots season, Davis was also a key player for MoKan Elite’s 17U team that won the championship at the prestigious Nike EYBL Peach Jam.

Nice pick-up for The Dawgs!  Looking forward to watching Mr. Davis play for SIU.

Let's land another one of Mullins targets!

@salukiworld Everyone knew they had to be thinking about who would replace Domask.

I don't know that Davis is about "replacing Domask" ... they already have some young guys onboard who slot in pretty similarly from a position/size standpoint in D'Amico and Ferguson. I just look at it as trying to bring in as much impact talent as you can, and hopefully Davis delivers as a high performer in the coming years.

Would love to see him and Domask on the floor together next season, but we'll have to see.
