Schools struggle to pay teachers and buy books, yet this team travels all over the country to play. Unbeleivable
It's gotten to a point where no one in St. Louis will play Vashon anymore so they have to travel to get games. It's been like that for at least a decade or two.
If you're queasy about going into the city, your best bet might be trying to go to the Highland Shootout on Jan. 7th. But you might want to try to get tickets early. I think they do sell out.
ReSaluki and I plan to be at that game.
Vashon finally plays their first home game tonight against Buchtel HS, Akron, OH (weather permitting!)
Looks to be very promising!

We could use more scoring for sure.
Looking like Wes Rubin, who de-committed from Loyola, might be headed to UNI based on some buzz from their fans
Smart kid!

Vashon knocks off prep power Huntington Prep.
Of all Mullins TRUE recruits, Davis excites me the most. He not only has size, but adds length. He is both quick and fast. He can play BOTH sides of the ball and plays against top competition so the transition to D1 should not only be easier but less of a concern. Admittedly way too early to say, but I am confident this young man will not only play meaningful minutes next season but will make a real impact.
It's interesting after the Davis commitment, things have gone pretty quite on this front. We have at least 3 scholarships to fill next year (one of which is taken by Davis). Just like every other year, it is likely that number increases with transfers. That's not even including the scenario where Jones and Domask don't come back next year (my guess is Brown probably doesn't which would push that number to 4).
I guess they are going to have a busy spring and maybe try filling a lot of the holes via transfers, but it surprises me how little we've seen in terms of offers.

I *think* Newton is the only sure player to not return next year so that would slot Davis into his scholarship. Domask, Jones, Muila, Xavier Johnson, and Brown can all return with the extra COVID year as far as I know right now. Of course, not all of those guys will use the extra COVID year and you'll probably have a transfer or two from the guys on the roster playing.
There's questions on if Xavier Johnson has a COVID year but as far as I can tell, this is his 4th year.
I only see one for sure open scholarship for next year. That scholarship is due to Jawaun Newton completing his NCAA eligibility.
J.D. Muila - Still has a COVID year of eligibility left after this year.
Trent Brown - Still has a COVID year remaining and I'm sure he would want to take advantage of it to complete a graduate degree in Finance. Of course he could be offered a Graduate Assistant position and receive financial aid for that. We will see.
JR Jacobs - I believe this young man is red shirting this year as a Walk-On. He may be working for a future scholarship when one is available.
So as of right now, I believe there is only one scholarship available for the 2023-2024 season. Things do have a way of opening up in this age of the Transfer Portal though.
Just my thoughts and observations.
Thanks all. I swear I read somewhere that JD and XJ were done after this year. I was able to confirm XJ does have another year if he wants it from the SIU press release when he signed. I'll take everyone's word on JD as well (makes sense based on seasons played).
I'm sure we will still see some spots open up (between transfers and people using Covid year somewhere else), but would make sense that they would wait until spring on those.
