Just got back from the game. Very impressed with Davis. He has a complete game. Handles, defense, rebounding and a nice stroke. Really impressed with his defense and basketball IQ. Vashon is a very well coached team. Davis looked better than both Ruben brothers, at least in this game. Vashon used Davis a lot as a point forward. Vashon ran everything through Davis. Also, Davis did a great job of fronting his man on defense. Looks to me like a prototypical 3 in college. Should be able to play right away as Vashon plays one of the toughest schedules in all of high school basketball and Davis more than holds his own. Very excited!
I was at the game with ReSaluki and I concur. Davis is college-ready both physically and from a skills/talent standpoint. I also met him briefly after the game and he seems like a super nice kid.

that is the scary thing about the past 15 years, people in the St Louis area, who aren’t of a certain age, don’t even recognize SIU as the real SIU.

As I've said before, I'm more ecited about Davis than any previous Mullins (true) recruit and why.....? As mentioned in the comments from the fans that went to see him play, this kid can and DOES play a high level DEFENSE. He will likely make an immediate impact and has a bright future ahead of him.

We obviously won't KNOW until the end of the season, but I am pretty confident the core group sticks around, using their COVID year. Next year should be REALLY fun.

I'm not so sure about the core group (Domask and Jones) coming back. They may feel they have done all they can with this team and look for a change in their final year of eligibility. We would have to hit home runs in the portal to replace their scoring. Even if they come back, we're looking at the same team as today with the addition of Davis. Not a great outlook, the way we're playing lately.
If Jones and Domask come back and we can hold onto Scottie and Cade, along with the addition of Davis, I see this team being quite a bit more dangerous next year.We obviously won't KNOW until the end of the season, but I am pretty confident the core group sticks around, using their COVID year. They'd have to do well in the portal, the Valley is going to be much stronger next year. Leons already announced he's going to be back next year for Bradley, if Mast comes back they'll probably be an at-large contender.
I don't think you can expect much from Hornecker next year if he can't get on the floor in garbage time this year.
