Starting to wonder why we don’t have a single player. What could it be?
I wouldn’t think players were staying away because this could be the last year of BM coming up. But I can’t think of anything else.
They probably probably come here to SalukiInsider and realize half of us are nuts.
half?

If a promising guard watched any of our games last season, that could be the reason.
@siu-grad-87 BM has at least 2 more years. He won’t be fired before his contract is over.

March on triumphantly!

Seems like a low estimate.
No doubt this is a nuthouse.
That said, it would also be nuts not to be worried about the extended spring signing drought (not to be confused with the postseason drought or the frequent offensive droughts).
It's making us nuttier by the day.
If it matters Kansas State just signed their 1st portal transfer yesterday
@saluki44 I really believe the problem could be with Mullins' style of basketball. Bigs don't want to come to SIU because...IF they get to play at all, they will not be part of the offense. Guards likely do not find the slow, boring offensive approach to their liking either.

Not that I prefer it, but it is the SAME style of play that we did in the early 2000's. At my age I don't remember everything well, but my recollection is the teams did okay back then.
@insaluki Your recollection is correct. However. this is a different era.
A couple of uncommitted, familiar-sh names I wonder about as the pool of available players, and especially guards, dwindle:
- Quimari Peterson, PG for John A. Logan. Looks like he recently visited Cleveland State. Southern needs a second point guard.
- Braxton Stacker, St. Louis kid who Southern recruited last year and then transferred after not playing much as a freshman at Murray St.
If this year is going to be the rebuilding year like it looks like it's trending to, I'd add Stacker and give him minutes. He has more potential than the majority of the guards they're recruiting.
I always liked Stackers high school game and thought he would be a good MVC player. No clue if we are even recruiting him now.
