When people talk about how Carbondale isn't like it used to be I can't help thinking, what towns are like they used to be? Cape Girardeau and Paducah come to mind. Think about wherever you live. Are the towns of this size like they used to be?
Just had three friends bring their kids to Cdale for visit. All loved the campus, spoke to dept heads annd counselors and all chose to come. Fwiw.
Any visitors this weekend?
Carbondale is fine the way it is now, but it has the potential to be one of the best college towns in the Midwest, as it was in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
I’m hopeful the university’s enrollment issues are in the past, which will help in this regard.
SIU still has the nicest campus in the Valley.
I wish we were in on Andre Curbelo. Dude was one of the top guards in the country a few years ago. It might not work out but at least it’d be fun.
Locker room cancer. No thank you.I wish we were in on Andre Curbelo. Dude was one of the top guards in the country a few years ago. It might not work out but at least it’d be fun.

I think there's a better chance you and I would suit up for this team before Mullins even thought of recruiting Curbello
Kobe Knox to USF. I’m down to 12 names on my list:

Think of other college towns….what places do students have for nighttime social activities? The number of bars and clubs closing has limited these off campus activities. Right or wrong students do choose universities for these things. Honestly I don’t want to compete with Cape or Murray for which is a better college town. City wise though at my age (39) Cape and Paducah are currently the better cities. Nature wise however, Cdale has more opportunities.
When you think about it, how much time is a college basketball player going to have to hit the bars? When people talk about how Carbondale isn't like it used to be I can't help thinking, what towns are like they used to be? It all comes down to enrollment. Obviously more people can support more businesses.Carbondale is fine the way it is now, but it has the potential to be one of the best college towns in the Midwest, as it was in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

Players actually go out quite a bit. I was at SIU during early 2000s and those teams frequently visited pinch and copper quite a bit. Also spent time with other athletes in various sports during this time….there is ample free time at night and off seasons.
