Yup, that's a bad sign, i think he has a HS teammate that is already going to Iowa too.
Owen Freeman 6'10 transferred to Moline for his senior season. So yea, not a good sign for our chances.

It is indeed a tough get now. I expect more Power 6 schools will follow, but I don’t think it’s impossible. Staying on kids like this and, more importantly, having success on the court can sway some kids with more immediate playing time. I say some kids, because there are those who want to play for the big boys no matter what (not saying that is right or wrong).
One thing I believe a lot of coaches are thinking about is if this kid comes to our school early on and develops will he bolt once he promised playing time at a power six. I think the leverage for mid-majors on these guys who are in between mid-majors and power six is the likelihood of playing time earlier in your career vs going to an Iowa or Illinois and sitting until you are a Junior/Senior. The caveat is always can you keep them once they are at the point of being able to play significant minutes for the big boys. Mullins has been able to do that so far with Jones and Domask, but as highlighted by the recent mass exodus of talent from the MVC, it’s not always a given.

Yes, but with the NIL money that even a bench warmer can get at a power conference school, that changes the dynamic even more. Southern can't compete with the NIL money offered by any schools in power conferences or even mid majors in populated areas. I think the days of a borderline power conference kid dropping down for playing time are going to be greatly decreased with the NIL money.
Loyola may have left the MVC but they continue to be a pain in the a-- from a recruiting competition standpoint:

NIL is definitely having an impact on recruiting, but bench warmers at Power 6 schools are not getting the amount of money that will sway a kid away from a mid-major that offers playing time…at least not that I’ve seen.

I'm not normally "that" guy, but Iowa is on a downswing and SIU is on an upswing with next year being THE YEAR where magic could happen. Still though, best of luck to Brock.

He's also going to play for one of the coaches with the most dour personalities in the country in McCaffery. The guy can be quite a jerk.
At least Harding and the Rubin brothers both committed pretty early in the cycle so the coaches don't sink too much time into them.

Yeah looks like that was the team he was waiting on…congrats to him, on to the next.
Yeah, glad we made a run at them, but mostly long shots. You never stop recruiting, it's 365 days a year. Also, given the Big 10's dismal performance in the NCAA lately, you would think kids might consider other conferences. But the exposure is so big, hard to go smaller.
March on triumphantly!

Not upset at all at losing guys to Loyola and Iowa too. I’d be really salty if they ended up at Valley schools. Was scared Drake might get in on Harding and grab him.
