Miller, Hensley, and Sharp are the 3 names I've had circled for a few weeks now as the most likely gets. Sharp still has a ton of competition with Wyoming and St. Bonaventure, hopefully playing close to home sways him.
I'm really hoping for one or two big surprises to close out this portal class.
Hmm. Bryan mentions we only have two scholarships available now.
Well, he said “a couple” twice
I wouldn’t be surprised if they leave a scholarship open or move Jacobs to a scholarship but I think 3 open scholarships qualifies as “a couple”
Miller's shot is NOT as pretty as Jones in my opinion. That being said, most people would agree that 30% shooting is greater than 28%. There is one, way more important fact, one player wanted to be here and one did not. I'm the type of guy that if someone doesn't want to be in my life, I wish them well and then............ I don't pine over them. I choose to support Miller.
Mullins said the same thing in regards to Domask and Jones... I love them, I would have loved to coach them again, but if there is indecision then go, we want people here who are 2 feet in, no regrets. I agree. I think this team has a chance to be really good with one more wing addition.Miller's shot is NOT as pretty as Jones in my opinion. Cherry picking. Jones' worst year vs. Miller's one year.
One very weak schedule vs. a stronger schedule.
I certainly hope Miller turns out to be a better three-point shooter ... that would be awesome. I'd bet a ton of money that Jones would win a three-point contest against Miller.
You're right. Marcus didn't want to be here. Good luck to him when he tries to guard Lance... if that should ever happen. LOL
I miss both of them!
They have 3 left.
For a more fair comparison, I will compare Millers freshmen only numbers vs the player (guard) who chose to leave.
PPG: Miller 10.4 vs. 9.3 (Adv Miller)
FG%: Miller 46% vs 44% (Adv Miller)
FT%: Miller 80% vs 63% (Adv Miller)
Reb: Miller 2.7 vs 2.9 (Adv Player who chose to leave)
Asst: Miller 96 vs 79 (Adv Miller)
Turnover: Miller 69 vs 88 (Adv Miller)
Steals: Miller 45 vs 31 (Adv MIller)
I was surprised myself at how much better Miller's stats were. The caveat of playing in a weaker conference is, and MUST be, noted. I'm confident, however, that Miller will get better and have his best season as a senior, something the other player could not do. And I repeat, Miller WANTS to be here so I will support him instead of pining over a player who didn't. I understand the B10 channel is available on many outlets for those who would rather watch Purdue (or Illinois) so they can watch their favorite player.

Doesn't mean a thing. He's a better FT shooter than Jones - I'll give you that. Time will tell if he can do it in the MVC. As I said before, they played a very weak schedule. I think he can develop into a good player for us.
TM's best scoring games (he had 12 against a very good KState team) - averaged 32 mins per game:
Our Lady of the Lake University 21
Dallas Christian College 19
Texas A&M Commerce 19
New Orleans 17
Houston Christian University 17
Mcneese St. 19
Jones averaged 26 mins per game as a true freshman. Had one game where he played less than a minute and didn't take a shot. Time increased as the season went on. Best scoring games:
UNI 20
Mo. State 28
Bradley 19
Indiana State 16
Bradley 20 (MVC Tourney)
This year's team will have to emphasize the big guys a lot more I think. Hope we can get some scorers with those last two schollies, because I don't think we've replaced the Jones-Domask scoring yet.
Sorry had to take a couple post off here due to quote length
