Are we expecting any visitors?

The dead period goes until Friday so wouldn’t expect any news before then.  The 4 names I have left are all Sophomores going to Junior year (Terrell Ard Jr, Daniel Nixon, James Graham, Julian Vaughns).  If you listened to Mullins with Reis, I think they’re going to add 1 or 2 grad transfers.  I’m not expecting anyone game changing at this point.  Would love James Graham but don’t think that’s happening.

Not sure but I'm assuming the remaining players on our portal list are pre-Howard.

I guess “impact guys” is subjective, but would any of the three spring signees so far qualify in your book? Miller is the one I have most confidence can step in and start, but whether he can be even an average MVC-caliber starting guard as a soph remains to be seen.

Point being, hard for me to feel confident they’ll pull in (immediate) impact talent with such a picked-over portal on the eve of June, especially with virtually no buzz over these past couple weeks, but I’m very receptive to a pleasant surprise or two.

Feels like there should have been a lot of urgency when Domask/Jones both announced they weren't coming back to somewhat replace them but I've never felt like there's been any urgency this offseason.  I don't think the Howard delay was their doing (I think the NCAA might have had something to do with that) but this entire offseason has felt like it's been in slow motion.

I like all 3 additions but if you told this board back in March that they'd lose Domask/Jones and replace them with the 3 they got, I think we'd all agree that it was a very disappointing offseason.

I don't dislike the players we've signed, but we still need a scorer (or two).  We know Jerrance Howard can recruit.  Bryan, Brendan, & Jevon work their tails off on the recruiting trail, too.  So, I'm not giving up hope quite yet.  They still may pull a rabbit out of their hat.

I think Murray was mentioned earlier with Rupert tweeting him.  Didn’t see any interest

Seems like we have a visitor this weekend.  From Chicago and averaged 4.4 PPG, 2.8 RPG

@salukiworld

This is all per an article on RJ:

RJ McGee lost his father pre-season last year. Took two weeks off to be with family and came back in time for a pre-season game. During the season his Aunt and uncle also died. This kid had a rough 12 months. But by the time their conference tournament was a week away, he came up big in back to back games leading into their tournament.

  The kid says his game is not all talent, but rather he out hustles his opponents.

Sounds like a possible fit for Southern.

I really like McGhee's size (6'5") for a guard.  He did well, at times, vs good competition, including 17pts in the opener of the AAC tournament vs Wichita State.  Also scored 14pts vs Memphis.  Only shoots 31% from 3, but with his size, I think he would be a good fit.
