I'll be watching SDSU/NDSU in the National Championship game. Question: Are we securing the same talent level as these programs?
Absolutely not. These teams have stud O and D lines, equivalent to top 50 FBS programs. We don't have O and D lines nearly as good.
At the skill positions, we've been as good at receiver but not at QB or running back.
1,000,000% agree with the O and D lines. That is the absolute key to us getting on their level. I think our skill positions have been every bit as good over the last few years (although this last year I would say not so much). It's hard to judge a RB group when they are getting first contact at the line of scrimmage on most run plays. I know people like to rag on Baker, but I'd sure rather have him than the NDSU QB Miller. Must be nice to go 1/12 for 5 yards and win a football game 35-32 (331 yards on the ground). Which brings me back to how critical it is to have a good offensive line. When your big uglies can control the line of scrimmage, there isn't a whole lot other teams can do even if they know what's coming!

Thank you for the insight. Agree with you both that it starts and ends in the trenches. If you are in the lead, or need a game winning touchdown, having a long, sustaining drive to remove clock is essential. Guess it will be a wait and see again. Coach Hill needs to start winning with all the talent he and staff have accumulated. He did after all receive a nice extension.
QB room will be better IMO. Baker set to be QB1 and a healthy Lindauer at QB2.

Maybe not Cam Miller but how about Trey Lance, Easton Stick, Carson Wentz, Brock Jensen??? That is a great group of QBs - better than most teams in the Big 10 not named Ohio State. Lantz, Stick, and Wentz are in the NFL and Jensen might have been the best of the bunch - just never made a mistake.
I don't think they have had better receivers or kickers but otherwise their recruiting blows ours away. Nothing like winning to help your recruiting.
Looks like the Dawgs got a commitment from Oregon State. LB Jake Parrella 6'3" 235. 3 years of eligibility left.

Another DB commitment. They are going hard after the CB/Safety position and I'm here for it!

Looks like he had a change of heart? I assume he'll be a PWO for Iowa.
