That one hurts.
That one hurts.
Indeed. He was the #1 player I wanted to stay (shortly after was Ebube). As I mentioned in the other thread, however, each one of these players could still consider coming back based on the new coach that is brought in.
We’ll have to wait and see who the new coach is, how successful he and his staff are at convincing current players to stay and hitting the portal to bring in talent.
Well this should end up with a lot of pages now that we have 3 players left and my bet is Sharpe is next to enter the portal.
Sharp, Stulich, and Miller? Might as well just start from scratch.
Rumor: Schertz to SLU for big money from the Pope. Avila, Swope, Conwell, Larry, Kent to SIU and Ben McCollum and assistant B. Hinson.
(Believe everything you hear on the internet!)

I'd love to keep Sharp but realistically the new coach might want to bring in his own guys.
Someone will pick up Sharp. He is really quick and has a year learning g defense from Bryan Mullins.
If he enters the portal, he will absolutely get picked up, even if it's one of the lower level conferences (based on rankings), like MAC, ASUN, OVC, etc. This kid is a winner and after an offseason of strength building, he will be ready to get some PT. I would be happy if it was at SIU, but that is up to Sharp.
I know the portal thread will get the most attention over the next few weeks but with so many spots to fill and Nagy's old-school mindset about still liking to recruit high school guys, I would not at all be surprised to see SIU add at least a couple class of 2024 high school kids this spring. Maybe there are some decommits from the various coaching changes that will come into play.
Yeah I bet you're right. He can tell them that they'll get a ton of playing time (most likely) and that's what kids are looking for when they commit somewhere.
We have a commit! Jaheem Webber flips from Wright St
