@the-bobber

Cole has received an offer from the Big 10, albeit Northwestern, I would be SHOCKED if he committed to SIU or any Valley school for that matter.

We must give Coach Mullins and staff credit for recognizing/offering players of this stature. After all, they have secured two 3 star players this past year, and Ebube was a Top 5 Chicagoland prospect among some excellent company. Kid must be bright being offered by Northwestern. Coach Mullins kind of kid. Win, and these types of players will most definitely play at SIU.

GO DAWGS!

Mullins and his staff need to start winning with the guys they've recruited the past 4 cycles.

Also, Cole Certa just received offers from Penn State and Rice.

I’d be pretty shocked if Certa happened, not even mentioned here:

Good to make connections with these kids in the transfer portal era. Even if you do not get them the first time if they are not a fit at first school you have a better chance at getting them in the portal. Ala Providence with Bryce Hopkins this year.

3 star recruit out of Brookfield, WI.

6'8" Forward 3 Star Recruit I might add.  Other offers seem to be:

Ball St, Illinois St, Indiana St, Milwaukee Wisconsin

ps. An older article, but a nice one nonetheless

2024 F JACK DAUGHERTY IS EMERGING AS A MUST TRACK PROSPECT (ny2lasports.com)

I have a feeling that unless we are able to ink this kid EARLY, he will get some offers from Power 5 schools and sign there.  He could easily grow 1-2 more inches which would make him highly sought after.

I don't think there is any way he commits early...he had Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa at a game in December it appears. I'm sure Wisconsin would be a dream school for him. Unfortunately, I feel like this goes the way of Cole Certa and the big boys will come calling sooner rather than later. Sure would be a good get though.

I thought the same thing, just didn't want to come off as negative.  LOL   I think this kid ends up at a major and Wisconsin, as I understand it, is his dream landing spot.  Good luck to him AND SIU in the process though.

Keep winning, keep filling the arena and we are going to start to be in the ballpark for fringe recruits.  Also, make the connection, maybe after his freshman year he decides a high mid major suits him better.

Why I'll agree that representing the dairy state may be his desired choice, Saluki basketball must continue to reach out to 3 star players, and even beyond. I do believe that we will have two on our very roster next year. Relationships/connections are essential to this process. His list is certainly impressive, however, Minnesota and Wisconsin are quite mediocre, at least displaying thus far. Hearing some exciting things about our staff on the recruitment trail. Continue to win, especially on the National stage, and these type recruits will be wearing maroon, and playing in front of the home town Banterra Center folks!

GO DAWGS!!!

Zero issues with the offer...they absolutely should go after the guys they want. Who knows, he may not get the playing time he wants with the big boys and we've already built that relationship, so he may transfer.

Just being realistic, if a Big 10 school offers, SIU doesn't have the cache to compete with that.

Sadly you are correct about the $$$ and the NIL. Each BIG school receives $50 Million a year from the BIG 10 Network. Couple that with 9/10 of those teams making the dance each year, (most losing Rd 1) the cash river continues flowing north to the BIG headquarters. Pathetic IMO
