Nick Kern Jr just entered the portal any chance he wants to come play with his old team mate Kennard?
Would assume he will follow his coach to Penn St
Everyone wants to hit the portal hard and improve the roster which is fine I guess but i don't see alot of success in the valley with this approach to the team with most success has been Drake and their ability to keep their core together and supplement with certain players constantly changing the roster doesn't make you a success ask Mo St
@saluki-4-life fair enough.Do you not think it is a little concerning that the B B coaches didn’t have a proper read on Marcus? I use to believe that Mullins was going to get the job done but I also know more than I can post on a fan message board and as I hinted at earlier in my post there are MAJOR concerns with the SIU Men’s BB program at the administration level at SIU. Today’s approach to a successful B-BALL program has changed dramatically from just 5 years ago and some coaches are going to adapt and still win while others will make up excuses why they fail. Bryan Mullins is the HIGHEST paid employee at SIU and at the end of the day he has a job to do and so FAR he has been underwhelming in doing it. The clock is ticking. I truly hope he gets the job done but I am beginning to have major doubts. I would love nothing better than to be eating crow after next season. He is a class act and I really want him to succeed.
I mean it sounds like there is more to it than what we are hearing then? I've got my concerns as well, but MAJOR? That feels like hey next year is make or break, which would be very unfortunate for Mullins b/c I think he's going to have a hard time getting to the NIT or NCAA next year with the high roster turnover (not all of it his fault).
@mdogs1 I believe you... Maybe I am being naive, I am also not loyal to one coach, if they think it is time to move on then that is fine... I just want the program to get back where it belongs. No coach or player is bigger than the program but it is hard not to root for Bryan.
I totally agree I want Bryan to succeed.

Barely played last year as a Freshman
I like his size for a shooting guard.
Lance and Marcus both. Not surprised - it's what I've thought all along. Both terrific players and enjoyed watching them play. Good luck to them. If either one transfers to an MVC school, though, you can book this: I'll hate 'em! LOL
Domask is going to a high-level school. Jones I’m very interested where he ends up. DePaul, Loyola (yuck) make a lot of sense. He shot 36.8% which might scare off a lot of teams but his history is there.

BM is a young HC with a lot to learn. He can coach D for sure - tons of potential. Needs to be flexible, though, and I didn't see that much. Hope he succeeds of course, but we are not going to be very good next year.
One quality a coaching staff has to have, which has nothing to do with the game really, is to be attractive and make your program and school attractive to players. I think it would be enormously helpful to have an experienced, older coach on the staff that has proven offense and recruiting chops. This is especially important when your recent history is one of no post-season and lots of sub - .500 seasons.

Charles Barkley was on 60 Minutes last weekend. He described the portal as “a travesty and a disgrace”. Said in 3-5 years there will be 25 teams that dominate the “sport” because they are the ones that can afford to buy players, everyone else will be irrelevant. He said he is very saddened. I know just how he feels. https://www.cbsnews.com/video/charles-barkley-60-minutes-video-2023-03-26/#x

Not sure I agree. Seems like with NIL and the portal this is one of the more wide-open years in the NCAA in recent memory. Power conference programs can no longer just stash 4-star recruits on their bench for 4 years. We have 2 mid-majors in the final 4 teams for crying out loud.
