I think this will be good for the university. It's time to get a solid winning program in our refurbished stadium facility competing at full blown Div I level.

Last I heard they were still in the coach searching process.

Anyone know if SIU is simply filling a Title 9 requirement? If that's the case I see this being underfunded and yet another program with 0 expectations from the AD. IF SIU truly intends to compete, then the expectation is to fund the program appropriately and win conference championships. I realize this isn't off the ground yet, but I think Tommy needs to get this off on the right foot.
If they bring in Women's soccer along with dropping football we could then cancel a bunch of women's sports.

No, they couldn't cancel any women's sports

No, they couldn't cancel any women's sports
If football went away, then they'd literally have to cancel a lot of women's sports to offset that loss of male scholorships.

I understand how Title IX works, however you failed to point out the fact that Division One schools must sponsor 7 men's and 7 women's sports minimum. (Or 6 for men & 8 for women.)

That's a pretty dumb rule.

That rules seems a little corrupt (perhaps even like racketeering) to me with an intent to leverage many schools into unwanted programs.

So the ncaa telling schools, to be able to have an "athletic department" they need to offer more than 1-2 sports is corrupt? (Esentislly what you're saying). Quite the analysis.

Telling them it's 14 sports or nothing is crooked as crap.

There's nothing crooked about it. That's the minimum expectation to participate.
