Former Saluki track and field All-American DeAnna Price broke her own American record in the hammer throw yesterday at the Tom Botts Invitational track meet in Columbia, Missouri. Price tossed the ball-and-chain 78.60 meters, translating into 257'10" to set the new United States record. The throw is the third furthest throw ever in the world's women's hammer throw history.
Congratulations DeAnna and Coach Lambert of this magnificent achievement.
Another great day that I am proud to be a Saluki.
Go Deanna!!
DeAnna Price had the best throw of the day in the qualifying round of the Women's Hammer Throw in Oregon.
Gwendolyn Berry was sixth today and also qualifies for the final round.
Go Dawgs!
Deanna Price broke her own US record and will go to the Olympics as the gold metal favorite! Gwen Berry finished 3rd in qualifying, and like Price, she will also be competing as a two time Olympian. Go Dawgs!!!!
Always Proud to be a Saluki. Even more so today.
Gwen Berry has made headlines with her national anthem protest during the medal ceremony. They normally do not play the national anthem during the US Olympic trial medal ceremonies. However, the hammer throw medal ceremony just happened to coincide with the one time, daily playing of the national anthem. The story is on espn and all other major outlets.

Bluster and barbeque don't win championships.
Very proud of DeAnna Price and hope she brings home the gold. Thank you for being a Saluki and making us proud.
Media barely covered the fact that Deanna set a new American record, but they were all over Gwen Berry's protest. And of course they covered the winners in gymnastics and other events!!!
That's
Deanna Price qualified for the finals. Her throws were not quite up to her world #1 standards, but the important thing is she qualified for the finals. She finished with the 9th best throw from the 2 heats and the top 12 qualified. Gwen Berry also qualified and actually out threw Deanna. Deanna will have to throw a lot better in a couple days to medal. Good luck to our lady Salukis in the finals!!!
