Congratulations to DeAnna Price on winning the C.C. Jackson award as USTAF's top female fields event athlete in 2018. Price also claimed the Best Championship Field Performance Wing Award, which is determined by fan vote. She received the awards over the weekend at the USTAF annual awards banquet. Since its inception in 1978, only one other Saluki has received the Jackson Award...Connie Price-Smith in 1995.
Met Deanna in the elevator going up to the Cook Club before the game versus SLU. She did a little presentation after coach Clancy gave us the scouting report on the Billikens. She was magnificent, confident, well spoken as well as emotional about the ride she took coming to SIU, never regretting her path that led her here. She also promised everything she had in her quest for an Olympic Gold Medal in the future.
We are all very fortunate to have former students representing SIU such as Deanna who exhibit such great character and loyalty. She is a true charm, a die-hard Saluki.
