Bears ended up winning 35-30, thanks to another great performance by Jason Shelley. What a pickup he was for Petrino last year (although, it helps that he's a 6th-year senior and almost 24 years old).

If Baker struggles in the next few games I’d like to see one of our FBS QB transfers get a shot under center.

One of them is QB3 or QB4 and I think the other isn't cleared for full contact yet, so I think you are S.O.L. as my parents would say.
@siu_2011 lol. Have we seen much of Norton outside of SEMO last season? Lindauer should be available in the next few weeks.
Baker is the guy right now. Wasn’t good on Saturday but was far from the reason they lost.
Was garbage time but Zebrowski looked much better than Norton ever looked in garbage time when he was in.
Think you have to play the year out with Baker and if he doesn’t show he’s the guy going forward you hit the portal hard this offseason.

Not much on Norton outside a couple games of garbage time. I was surprised he didn't end up QB2 again this year, but maybe he stalled out in his progression. Lindauer is supposed to be more of a dual threat guy, something that's particularly interesting to me, especially for next year.
I agree with SalukiWorld though, I think Baker is the guy for this year. I think he's the most equipped to lead us to wins, but he has to play much better than what he did against UIW.
@siu_2011 I agree 100%. Baker is a tough kid. Hopefully week 1 is a wake up call for the team and coaches.
@salukiworld not sure the portal is the answer unless some of our guys hit the portal. After this season Simmons has 3 years left , Baker 1, Zabrowski 2, Norton 2, Little Baker 4, and Lindauer 3
is this correct?

I completely disagree with automatically giving Baker the whole season if he continues to be inaccurate and play just middlin' over the next few games - that's just giving up! Play to win.
Give ZBROW a shot. He's an athlete - all-Con in basketball in a big school conference too AND he's 6'2". His Dad's a college QBs coach, his Mom was a college athlete. Last game was the first time he's played enough to get into a bit of a rhythm. Would hate to pull the FCS version of Joe Burrow at Ohio St.
Baker's had a few outstanding games but many more so-so ones in my opinion. No free rides - gotta prove it continuously.
@mr_woogers I’m all for letting more than 1 QB have an opportunity. I want to see Zabrowski, Lindauer, and Norton get opportunities. Zabrowski brings a smart coaches kid who can make the plays and read defenses. Lindauer brings a dual threat QB with size, and mobility. Norton brings FBS starting experience. Norton has a good arm and throws a good ball. He has the talent to win games.
@valleyfb IN general, I much prefer dual threat QBs at this level (like Joel Sambursky for instance). Too bad Lindauer got hurt. I'd like to see how he does on the field.
unless the OL keeps the QB from getting killed, you could have bob avellini at QB and it wouldn't matter.

Bob Avellini excelled at picks. Nicknamed Slo-Mo! LOL
No doubt the Oline was awful, but many times our QB had time and still threw passes like Hoyt Wilhelm.
we are 2-6 in our last 8 games. one of those wins was against the trees. they lost yesterday 66-0.
