It’s still early, but all of us who doubted Baker and Hill appear to have been wrong. This team isn’t the one we saw stumble at the end of the season. I’m shocked at the defense, in particular. Antonio James seems to be one we need to hold onto.
Not sure I can go all the way there. TBH today was somewhat reminiscent of last season where the offense had multiple chances to put the game away in the fourth quarter and kept stalling. That late delay of game penalty was especially brutal.
Awesome performance by the defense, though, and a great win.
I completely misjudged the outcome of this game. Figured it would have have been high scoring. That’s the best Defense I have seen SIU play in decades. Those transfers were awesome. Especially the dude from EIU.
On the other hand, the offensive play calling was a tad questionable, especially towards the end of the game.
Oh well…a win is a win.

Agree. That awful punt, bad play calling, Baker a bit off on some passes gave NIU a great chance to win. Lombardi's ill-advised pass and our pick saved us.
I have to compliment Ro Elliott. I thought he really ran the ball well tonight and was a huge factor in our win.
I'll give baker some slack since this was allegedly an FBS team but I still have my doubts about him.

@mr_woogers I thought they should have hopped on Ro's back the last 6 minutes he was getting big chunks and the clock runs incomplete passes stops the clock I understand trying to out smart a defense and get a big play but I am a believer in you run a play till they stop you and at that point in the game the clock was your enemy not NIU

Yes they had their first game in the new stadium tonight. I was down there. Pretty good atmosphere tonight and it’ll be rocking when SIU brings their fans next week. Can’t wait!
