Tucker DeVries will make significantly more than $200k at WVU next year. I would guess more in the $400k-$500k range. He'd easily get $200k in a Euro league. Would he get more in NIL money?
I'm legitimately asking, as I don't know.
McDermott has been in the league for a decade and still has at least another few years. If Devries can spend every day in the gym for the next two years shooting threes, he'll absolutely carve out a role in the NBA. 6'7" guys that can shoot will always have a place. With that said, McDermott was easily the superior college player, but Tucker's got more natural athleticism.
I agree with the above observations. He has a long way to go to match McDermott as a shooter. But, look at how LeBron made himself into a shooter after his first year. DeVries has the athletic and basketball ability to probably pull it off.
I didn't think AJ Green would be an NBA player but he's carved out a nice role as a bench sharpshooter on the Bucks. I think DeVries has a good shot at carving out a role.
Sorry, but Tucker Devries will never be an NBA player, he is good, but nowhere near athletic enough to play in the NBA.
I used to say the same thing about Kyle Korver and look how long that SOB played in the league! 🤣
I see Drake named an interim coach.
Marty Richter, the interim coach, has some support among Drake fans for the permanent job, although McCollum still appears to be the favorite. Assuming the players like him, promoting Richter might help limit the portal losses to Tucker DeVries.
The Valley has already been bleeding from the coaching and portal defections (some expected obviously, some not), but if Schertz leaves as expected it will be decimated. I would expect a really down year for the next couple years and those teams that are able to keep some continuity to start to rise. Bradley fans have to be feeling really good about next year given what's transpired to date (sorry @barkeep-1967).

As much as I hate to say so (my distaste for Bradley doesn't quite much Barkeep's, but it's up there), the Braves do seem to be the Valley's paragon of stability at this moment. Without knowing for sure what they have coming back or what they have lost in the portal, I also was thinking that next year could present an opportunity for teams such as Valpo and Evansville that have been downtrodden for the past few seasons.
Scottie Ebube's HS teammate....
P.S. There are others leaving Des Moines.

Evansville beat Quinnipiac 67-66 in the first round of the CBI last night. They play at 5:30 today vs. Seattle.
The Trees beat Minnesota and will play Cincinnati in the Hulman Center tomorrow night.
Valpo needs a new AD.....

@obd After less than 2 years on the job.
Valpo is broke. Since they dropped their Law School With it the alumni contributions. Also I don’t think he was much of a fundraiser? Valpo needs some big influx of money just like we do to compete for top tier talent!

If you watched the InSU-Minnie game, Avila's biggest weakness reared it's ugly head. He's not a great rebounder for 6' 10". Also, that outside shooting is very iffy - been non-existent lately. Swope hasn't done much for them either. Conwell and Kent are studs and Bledson, the MVC 6th man, is also very good.
Avila's passing is very good and Schertz is a heck of a coach, offense and defense.
