Happy to have Jimmy Beane onboard regardless of how he got here.
It may be worth while for people to toss mini-lunch bags of Cheetohs onto the floor after each loss or win over a non-conference win over a sub-100 RPI opponent or D2 school. The administration and head coach need to know the fans aren't stupid and aren't buying into this ongoing attempt to lower expectations since the little huckster came to town.
^ 1 over the limit.
I wonder if his contract specifies between D1 and D2 wins for the 20 win quota.
Yes, the contract specifically addresses this. The must be Division I games . It excludes exhibition games but includes post-season games.
He also receives bonuses based on ticket revenue which start at the $800k sales mark.
Late to the party here, but I’d like to express appreciation for Tommy Bell having the gumption to act in the best interests of Saluki basketball. What a sad, ugly period it has been for everyone who cares about the program and the university.

To bad they couldn't more directly ties his compensation to the profitability of the program.

I agree. When Tommy was let go all hope was lost. I now expect there will be or maybe already has been an extension for the present coach and when the time comes that he finally finishes his coaching career, he will still have zero ncaa appearances.

If that extension happens, it quite honestly means Jerry Kill is nothing more than a figure head and the lack of expectations continue. I won't be donating any money or even consider purchasing season tickets if the current $hit show continues. Nothing against the players on this team.....or the assistant coaches. This is all about the little huckster dumbing it down and the administration just being happy to field a team.

(Approx $660,000):
Donations fell for the third straight year, to $2,331,340 (2016).
Saluki donors gave nearly $3 million in fiscal year 2013. https://thesouthern.com/sports/college/salukimania/blog-siu-athletics-faced-million-deficit-in/article_3c0413c4-aeb8-567b-b922-b379a7f73909.html
(Jan 26, 2017) SIU announced cost-cutting measures Thursday that will save the athletic department approximately $660,000 annually beginning next school year. https://thesouthern.com/sports/siu-to-cut-men-s-and-women-s-tennis-reduce/article_d09c8eb4-c4f6-5144-beac-c59f4dd96289.html
Now include pay raises for hinson and bell, declining season ticket sales, etc.
and the fiscal picture and those responsible comes into focus.
A culture of no accountability seems to be a theme through SIU, unfortunately.
Hinson is not happy with the Simmons termination.
Hinson is not happy with the Simmons termination.
Simmons faithfully followed the Hinson blueprint of never making the NCAA and soft scheduling; of course Hucky would take offense at his dismissal. Meanwhile, McCarty has already turned UE’s recruiting around, and the other new coaches in the MVC also are recruiting well out of the gate while we teach Amadou Fall the rules of the game and hope that one of the two Beanes make their grades.
So per Hefferman on Twitter, it looks like only one of the two Beanes (Darius) will in fact be eligible.
Guess there was a reason Southern got Jimmy. Well, another reason.
Another fine Hinson recruiting class: two lightly regarded kids and the son of an assistant. He was fortunate to dodge the pink slip in April and continues to be outrecruited by rival MVC programs.
SIU guard @Dariusb25 has been cleared to practice with @SIU_Basketball. Only new guy not here yet is @jready320, who has not yet made grades. I’m told he may pay his own way like Jeremy Roscoe did in 2016-17 and play for #Salukis in 2019-20.

unFLIPPIN' believable. I typed several paragraphs about Chester Cheetos and the current state of our men's basketball program. Then decided that I probably should cool down a little. When is this nightmare going to end?
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Personally I am ready to sit in my parent's basement eat Cheetos, while mom is upstairs cooking me some pizza pockets.
Here's for the silver of hope we have another solid mediocre season. I was already for Chester to go down in the BBQ sauce making smoke cloud he lives in. I just might have to leave a bag of Cheetos in Hucky's chair this season...
The little huckster just needs to go. End of story. The guy has snowed those that have the ability to can his a$$, and shame on them for not seeing the facts. Hopefully Jerry Kill is pulling together a list of perspective candidates to take over Saluki Basketball. This once proud program has been allowed to sit in the $hitter for far too long.
