The stampede for the portal has begun. The team will be unrecognizable next fall. New coach has his work cut out for him. Hoping for the best, but fearing the worst.
March on triumphantly!

I’m not worried. We’ll just keep doing this same thing year after year. And with our financial resources we’ll continue to be a mid-MVC team year after year until we all eventually die.
Until certain financial limitations are addressed I feel for any head coach if the athletic department doesn't step up with NIL department and figure it out it might be painful
Not sure how that press release is going to lure in good coaching candidates or recruits.
Maybe so, but purely on the contrary, Mullins inexcusable treatment of the seniors on THEIR night could arguably have had detrimental consequences on recruiting. Regardless, none of this is ideal. I would guess that no matter who is brought in, the results NEXT season will not be as good as had Mullins been extended, but the hope is that within 2-3 years they are well ahead of where we were in similar years under the previous regimes.
I have never understood the , if this happens , I'm done with crowd. The way I look at it is I was here long before Bryan and will be here long after he is gone.
Second, can we quit making comments that start out " if everybody comes back" That just isn't reality anymore. I'll put the over/under at 3 for number of guys that stay.
The end of this regime was nothing like the past two, where, we the fans had to endure a season or two longer than we should have.
Attendance has been good, and general interest seemed to be pretty good. The success just wasn't there.
However, the question I have is why even bring in Jerrance Howard and not give Mullins at least 2 years ?? It doesn't matter who you have recruiting for you , if your head coach is on the last year of his contract it is going to be hard to get commits.
Sucks to see Bryan forced out, wish he would have been given the opportunity to make some staff changes and see what happened, however we are where we are.
Now Tim Leonard , if this was in fact your decision, you are the one now sitting squarely on the hot seat.
Make the wrong hire and throw out a 8-22 season next year and see what happens to attendance, interest, donations, etc, etc , etc.

Exactly !!!

”Hey, come join SIU. We will talk you up when we fire you. “
@insaluki The treatment of the seniors is a fair assessment. I hope you are right, but I fear we are going backwards vs forwards.
I think we're possibly missing the point. One, Tim Leonard, could look at it as Mullins couldn't bring in enough top tier talent even with Jerrance Howard on staff. However, the question I have is why even bring in Jerrance Howard and not give Mullins at least 2 years ?? Seeing SIU "fans" on Facebook/Twitter saying they can't wait to watch us finish last in the Valley next year is certainly something
For all of those people who wanted to finish first well we are first in the valley to make a coaching change

In a season that had its fair share of frustrations, his handling of the seniors on senior night is probably my biggest wtf gripe. Not giving all the seniors their due sendoff had nothing to do with his lack head coaching experience, his shortcomings with the whiteboard, etc. It was simply an egregious error, and I feel for those players who's careers are now over.
--Insert something witty here--
The opposing head coach calling a time out at the end of a lost game, so our seniors could be recognized, did it for me.@insaluki The treatment of the seniors is a fair assessment. I hope you are right, but I fear we are going backwards vs forwards.
